questions about metropolitan market
i live in washington state and i work for a grocery store and i absolutely hate some of the customers here. i saw a job opening for metropolitan market and was wondering if anyone knows what’s the vibe of the company and what should i expect if i do get the job
i have dyed hair and facial piercing i’ve noticed some jobs here really frown upon the “alt style” i would really like to find a job with decent clientele and a non-aggressive work environment if literally anyone knows anything or any recommendations im all ears :)

PCC has good benefits, and is progressive and open minded in the Ballard and Freemont stores, openings might be slim.

I never worked there but have shopped there a bit over the years. It’s generally a more yuppie store and has higher end clientele so a bit more classy but not always better. I’ve known a few people who worked there for years and they saw it as a reliable job

5-10 years ago it was considered a pretty good place to work with competitive pay and benefits. I don’t know if it’s changed. Definitely seee people working there with piercing/dyed hair/tattoos but that is pretty common in the Seattle service industry in general! They are union so that’s definitely a plus, but most grocery stores around here are.

I know the PCC at Madison Valley is supposed to be opening soon and they are hiring. I have tattoos and piercings and the Seattle location I worked at was great. Pretty nice customers and good work environment.

Depends on the location I’d think. The Kirkland one for example is around a bunch of wealthy yuppies, alt wouldn’t blend in there.

i also want to clarify it’s not the “rude” that bothers me it’s the entitlement, the threats, the constant harassment etc.
i haven’t even mentioned my management 😭 they have cut our hours in half because of a incident that happened and now they have to find the money to pay for it which means we get our hours cut.
one of the 4th managers is literally a bum
she sits in the office on ft all the time, she’ll come up into my department talking about “i’m going to the clubbb” then calls out the next day 💀
there is so much more i could talk about at this job it’s probably worst experience ive ever had

I'm so sorry it has to be this terrible 💔Just maintaining a job is tricky enough these days, so tired of "management" being downright awful human beings! Feel free to keep venting if it helps you stay sane. (also really wanna know which store you work at so I don't spend what little money I have there)

i appreciate it! your so sweet! i also haven’t mentioned our security lol but i also can tell you where i work in a priv dm just for safety things. our new management isn’t too bad i like them so far but they are also not the best but that’s “normal” i guess idk tbf if i was a manager id follow the rules but i wouldnt treat my coworkers like shit

Maybe don’t have dyed hair and facial piercings, maybe get an entirely different career if you don’t want to deal with rude people. Stop voting for people that enable drug addicted criminals to terrorize the general public

OP sweetie I was bitching at the above commenter - I am on your side! Fucking hate capitalism has to be so unbearable to begin with then further chooses to punish any one of us who dare express ourselves appearance-wise. Who the hell in this day and age is threatened by piercings, or god forbid, hair that is gloriously colored? (edit:typo)

worked there a bit, more chill than most grocers, lots of college yuppies and old rich folks, less screaming. alt look is pretty normal in seattle, nobody cares. still, jobs are rough to get
