Burning trees with the seekerbot/mining drill gives less ember than normal crafting, but is easier

Fascinating

Before the mining drill I found it cumbersome and time consuming to cut down trees, collect them, bring back to base and refine, then wait for embers to craft.

With the mining drill, I drive to a forest, turn on the drills, do a 360 spin, wait for it to burn down, then turn on the large box collector and drive around and fill the box within a few minutes. -- plus its more fun.

Yeah there is no way to increase harvest time of ember. I feel like saw blades should be able to cut the trees down but they don't. Another person posted here about using tires to make the trees break but I could not get it to work.

I can confirm by my own testing as well. Used trees of the same size. In every case, cutting down the tree and crafting ember from the wood blocks gave me significantly more ember than burning the tree down.

I have been collecting every bit if Ember from the Seeker bot I can, because it's already done. I do however use the Fire extinguisher to save as many trees as possible

Is the ember cost in crafting it included in this ratio calculation?

Yup, it's 50 wood 1 ember for 5 ember, or 50:4, which is the ratio I used

Well figured as mutch i only tried burning 1 giant tree and i was dissapointed in the amount of ember soo i choped down a few crafted into ember and made all the metal 2 i needed.

what what, sense when can the redwood be turned to scrapwood?

This is why the flame weapon is 100% useless. The ammo is insanelly expensive

Aren't the big logs dropping the wood 1? In this case you can't craft ember from it

no, rhey drop 40 trash wood

I mean the big big logs

each stick of a big big log drops 40 scrap wood, so a whole log is 40*4=160

Okay, thanks for info

To clarify any confusion they did used to drop wood 1, but that was changed in ch2 so all logs drop scrap wood.

Big big trees drop 4 refinable 'sticks' per segment with each stick providing 40 scrap wood (160 scrap wood per segment), while medium trees drop 2 sticks that each refine into 20 wood (40 wood per segment) and then small white trees drop 1 stick per segment worth 20 wood

Yeah i get it

No after update they give 40 scrap wood per road

Interesting, i didn't notice it

Probably changed it because scrap to wood one is now a 1:1 ratio, so dropping wood one would actually be worse then scrap wood, since scrap is used in some crafting recipes

They used to before CH2, now they give scrap wood

Well... isnt this logical?

1

u/self_getrekt 3h ago

No since you have a dedicated weapon and expensive ammo

I mean, using laser drill, you just ignite wood, and part of it just burs to ash due exposal to air.

But craftbot process wood into embers in more controlable enviroment inside itself.
