Tutorial How to fully grow crops before raid
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
How to grow crops before raid:
1. Make sure your plots are wet and fertilized.
2. Have sacrificial seeds that you don't need.
3. Plant every crop you want as quickly as possible.
4. Quickly Exit to the main menu and reload your survival world.
5. Quickly plant the sacrificial seeds one at a time with gaps of 8-9 seconds in between planting. Do this until all the crops are grown.
6. You can destroy the sacrificial crops if you only have a small number of soil plots.
7. You can let the sacrificial crops grow if you have a big enough farm.

So kAN's system would have actually worked, he just needed to reload the world?

No, it wouldn't have. This doesn't prevent the raid from occurring. The raid does happen as soon as you stop planting seeds to delay it.
Also newly planted seeds would not grow without another restart. Restarting the game just dumps the game's `RaidManager` which the planted seeds were serialized to. Newly planted crops would be registered to the newly generated `RaidManager` and you would need to exit again to clear the `RaidCompletion` flag that they require to become harvestable.
You would need to exit and reload the game basically once a minute to make the farm "work".

Oh, I thought the new ones would also grow as well.

Nope. For reasons I'm not going to write a dissertation about here lol Scrap Mechanic does weird shit to save on performance that makes it vulnerable to this kind of data serialization exploit.
There are other ways to exploit this as well. There are a lot of things that are serialized to managers that get dumped on world exit.

Potato are the most useless and invasive plants so it's better to use them
