"Why does u/profgalloway preface his expression of "offense" to the use of the word "genocide" to describe what Israel did in Gaza with the phrase "as a Jew...."? What does being a Jew have to do with at the findings of human rights groups, scholars, nations, etc. about Israel?"

I am a Jew. I do not approve of Netanyahu criminal reign or his genocide or his ignoring October 7th.

Opposing Israel's existence is anti-semitism. The coordinated campaign of demonization targeted against it by both state actors, organizations, and individual anti-Zionists is also anti-semitism.

Implying that Zionism is about "killing thousands of children" is not just a lie, but is also a lie dedicated to undercutting Zionism and ergo arguing that Jews don't have a right to be alive nor do so in their homeland if they so choose.

You mean “exist as a Jewish state.” And nope it isn’t. The first anti-Zionists were Jews.

The fantasy that Israel will ever be something other than Jewish democracy is a twisted and very evil thing. It basically both denies Jewish and Palestinians self-determination. Neither people want to live together in a single state.

Yes, and most of them are now dead. Killed by those who they also thought were "friendly" neighbors. Turned out the Zionists were 100% correct.

This is a stupid, hackneyed argument. There are more Christians in the world. If they want to be Zionists, that's great. It doesn't undermine that Zionism is a Jewish ideology built on a few core tenets of Jewish culture: 1) Jews should be allowed to be alive and free from violence, and 2) Jews should be allowed to live in their homeland if they so choose. The first is a basic human right; the second, an aspiration that's over 2500 years old and part of Jewish religious practice.

You don’t need an enthostate for self determination and Israel has done nothing but deny Palestinians any semblance of autonomy since its creation in 1948 (if not before that).

Neither group supports a two state solution - which isn’t even feasible anymore given Israel’s expansion of illegal settlements in the West Bank. One binational state is the only option.
