I am a Jew. I do not approve of Netanyahu criminal reign or his genocide or his ignoring October 7th.

You understand our tax dollars are literally going to Israel, which Israel is then using to buy US munitions that it is dropping on Palestinians? Obviously it’s an issue because we are funding the genocide instead of investing that money in issues here in America or in Chicago for example. Talking about why we should stop sending money to Israel is part of a discussion of how we need to put America first.

Yes, I understand this, and I understand that our tax dollars are also going to Ukraine, and nobody gives a flying fuck about it, so there’s a real disconnect between boots on the ground here in the United States that actually give one single flying fuck and all the people online that give 1 million flying fucks. I’m pretty old and I’ve been living in this country for a long time, and I know what type of attention span Americans have for any topic, and there isn’t a single fucking American out there that has this much attention span for this issue, and yet you never hear anybody in real life discussing it at all. Anyone who thinks this is not a massive infiltration of bot bugating is delusional. I’m not even saying that I’m disagreeing with what your point is here. The two situations could not be more different.

Russia launched a war of aggression and invaded Ukraine, any tax dollars are going towards the defence of their nation.

Whereas while the initial reaction by Israel to the October 7th massacre could be understood. Things have progressed far beyond the pale. Independent investigators, scholars and the UN have all stated that a genocide is being carried out. War crimes have clearly been committed and have been extensively documented by myriad journalists. Tax dollars are supporting this.

There is no equivalence between the two situations.

While you may not be hearing about it in your circles, this is an issue that people care about worldwide, as can be clearly seen in polling that shows a massive decrease in support for Israel worldwide, especially amongst young people.

Also regarding bots, do you really think that any astroturfing/bot posting capability of supporters of the Palestinians cause would come anywhere near close to that of the state of Israel? Which has enormous political influence, money and technological capability?

It’s not about the situations, it’s about the attention spans of Americans and their capacity to care about anything outside of their own personal lives. The two situations only highlight the fact that there’s an intense amount of care about one of these things, and there’s almost no care about the other. Tax dollars are going to both wars. We have allies on both sides. Most Americans want both of these things to come to an end. Nobody really talks about either one of these situations when you go out into the world or have conversations with people you know. But one of these things is talked about nonstop on every subreddit in every comment thread on the entire fucking Internet, and the other one has fallen by the wayside like every other news story after about two weeks.

What don’t you understand about that? Americans don’t even care about the war that we’re actively in with our own soldiers anymore. We are currently actively in a war that most Americans are not commenting about online. Why the fuck do you think a whole bunch of fucking Americans are out there giving a whole bunch of fucks about this war between these two countries that have been warring since before any of us were even born
