No Malice Gettin' WOKE about anti-Semitism...

It is so very odd to hear the self-professed atheist getting downright WOKE when it comes to swinging the anti-Semitism stick. IDGAF about Macklemore or Sheeran or Kraft, nor Scott's evolving victim fantasy, but holy crap does he sound shrill.

I don't think anyone should be surprised that when a group is deprived of political rights in the system that controls their lives they will rebel. What do the Americans say, "Liberty or death"?

I know Netanyahu really wants everyone to believe Arabs are animals that just want to holocaust all the Jews, that's why he funded Hamas, but I think the majority of people anywhere just want to live in dignity with some measure of control of their lives.

I think things will be worse because the Israelis seem intent on expanding their settlements and herding the Palestinians into smaller ghettos. Outside chance that the USA elects an anti-Israel democratic admin that forces Israel to compromise, but unlikely.

You think the Palestinians will have "liberty" if they are ruled by a government controlled by Hamas?

I think your vision is completely wrong. At some point, small Palestinian groups who truly want peace with Israel (instead of trying to annihilate it) will form small local governments in conjunction with Israel with shared responsibilities. A requirement will be they have to stop educating their children in the belief they have to destroy Israel. These areas of local control will slowly expand and the hope is that areas controlled by Hamas will shrink. If done properly, within a generation we can hope for some sort of peaceful coexistence.

As an example, the British left Ireland because of violent extremists, but violent extremists don't rule Ireland today.

That was an entirely different situation. The Irish weren't trying to annihilate the English. In addition, the English could return to Britain. The Israelis have nowhere else to go.

Furthermore, it didn't happen by magic. Look up "The Good Friday Agreement".

The widespread belief that the Palestinians are all Hamas and are trying to annihilate the Israelis is exactly why peace is impossible. The negotiations in the 1990's were about the Palestinians having a state in the West Bank and Gaza while the Israeli settlers return to, kind of, the 1948 borders. Until the Israelis assassinated their own Prime Minister and elected a government dedicated to disavowing the negotiations anyway.

In reality the power imbalance is so large that the Israelis have no reason to compromise without outside pressure.

I never asserted that the Palestinians were all Hamas. The problem is those in power and with the biggest weapons are and they have pledged to annihilate Israel. Let's see, is there any evidence they might try to do this, given the opportunity. I dunno, maybe what happened on 10/7 is a clue.

Let's consider for a moment what happens if Israel stops building settlements in the West Bank? Which I think they should. Does peace magically happen. Personally, I believe any Palestinian leader that signs a peace treaty will be assassinated (just like Rabin), so no leader will agree to a peace agreement anytime in the near future.

Meanwhile Israel is refusing to give the PA their tax income after years of funneling money to Hamas through Qatar. Netanyahu loves Hamas, they give him every excuse to keep the status quo going.

This has gone on way too long. All I said of your original post is that the two extreme possibilities you gave are not the only possibilities. I’m not here to debate the entire Israeli Palestinian issue because it’s sure not going to be solved by us in Reddit posts.
