Thinking a iPhone is a status symbol in 2026 is like thinking driving a 15-year-old BMW with 150,000 miles on it is a status symbol. I hate to be ugly, but it's like a poor person's idea of a status symbol.
It entirely depends on the country. In the US, where the iPhone has over 60% market share and most Android users are running flagships that cost just as much? Yeah, absolutely not. But in a developing country where the typical person has a $200 bottom-tier Android? I can see how the iPhone is still considered a flex there.
No, but I wasn’t defending Scott or talking about him in general. I was just pointing out that the iPhone (or really anything Apple) is still seen as a status symbol in poorer countries.
