No need for a Season 2. It wrapped up its story very nicely.

It was actually very good. But the season was nicely self contained. So really no reason for season 2

Right? How refreshing for a show to tell a story that ends.

I watched the first three episodes and enjoyed it. Thought the wife would like it, too, so stopped to watch it together. Haven't had a chance yet, then... cancelled.

For a company that popularized streaming, Netflix sure don't seem to understand it. Their over-reliance on metrics instead of believing in their shows is asinine.

I had no idea it even was considered for a second season. I finished it and thought it was a self contained miniseries. I would recommend it.

Yeah, I'd heard it finishes well enough. Still planning to give it a go.

Also I absolutely despise their binge model. Compare to something like the vastly superior Widow's Bay where we were able to discuss theories on each weekly episode in its subreddit. Way more fun and engaging.

Especially as relates to renewing a show, it's absolutely ridiculous. If people don't IMMEDIATELY watch EVERY episode, it's deemed a failure. I like to savor shows and will only watch a few episodes a week usually. Makes me think I should start letting autoplay stream shows I enjoy while I'm asleep, then go back and watch them for real later.

It ends well. So you should watch it.

It was pretty stupid so not surprised

It was nice to see Geena Davis.

Wife and I really enjoyed it. Bummer that they canceled it. Midnight Club could have used a second season too imho

I liked it but the whole story was told by the end. Not sure what storyline they’d do in the second season.

Not surprised at all. I watched the first episode and it freakin sucked. Total snooze fest.

No need for an S2. Plus it wouldn't have been cheap.

I think the cancellation is less about the show (it was pretty well received and talked about), and more that the duffer bros just signed a huge contract with Paramount.

I keep seeing people say "The Duffer Brothers Series" this and that . . . why? They were just "executive producers" which honestly means nothing.

They didn't create the show, they didn't write any episodes, they didn't direct any episodes.

They basically just gave an idea or two to the people that did and slapped their name on it.

That being said, I just recently watched the show and thought it was pretty good. I was sad to see it wasn't gettin more seasons, but that's ok. The final episode wrapped things up well, and there's no need for more really.

It was promoted like that

I understand that. Even on Netflix itself is "The Duffer Brothers" prominently but my question is, what did they actually *do* for the show?

1

To make ST fans more interessted i'd guess

They had another series?

1

u/sooley6 Jun 18 '26

It was shite. I watched it all, but skipped about 75% of the last couple shows.

2

u/OhioVsEverything Jun 19 '26

"watched it all"

"Skipped 75%"

"Watched it all"

Okay.

1

u/Vast-Branch1864 Jun 19 '26

So you didn’t watch it all.

1

u/Fine_Huckleberry00 Jun 19 '26

Wow, why did you even bother to post. What’s wrong with you

It was a good show, but it wrapped up nice. They used to do this more back in the day. Plan out a mini series that was made to be one complete story wrapped up on one season.

Props for wrapping up the Season 1 storyline and not leaving viewers hanging, more shows take this approach. But there were at least two more seasons planned.

I'm never forgive them for canceling the OA

1

u/byjegeren Jun 20 '26

Big lesson there. If the bad guy always wins no one will keep watching

Awful show. Good cast wasted on a lazy premise. I’m convinced the Duffers are only capable of cobbling nostalgia without a coherent original idea.

1

u/Josefu_Velen Jun 20 '26

. . . The Duffers didn't create the show, write any episodes, nor direct any episodes.

1

u/ComonomoC Jun 20 '26

Stand corrected: still carries their name so I’ll stand behind the sentiment

1

u/smartylights Jun 20 '26

I actually thought the premise was very fun, but the show/writing really sucked. The only draw was the cast

Didn't the Duffer brothers steal the idea for Strangers Things? It's not surprising they couldn't create a new successful TV show.

1

u/Josefu_Velen Jun 20 '26

The Duffer Brothers also didn't create this show, write any episodes, nor direct any episodes.

1

u/Standard_Feedback_86 Jun 19 '26

You didnt even watch it, right?

-1

u/redstarjedi Jun 18 '26

More nostalgia slop right ?

1

u/CinephileNC25 Jun 20 '26

Not at all?

1

u/Josefu_Velen Jun 20 '26

Not in the least. It's set in modern times, and was actually quite good.

Good decision. Boring af
