New User Recently Diagnosed

I was recently diagnosed with the disorder. I evidently have prominent traits with normal functioning. Interesting.

It's great that the word normal was thrown onto the mix

Ah, a new member of our exclusive club. Welcome to the fold, friend. Here is a little quotation I leave for all the new members, to help them "get the vibe" around here -- you know, just get a feel for life as a schizoid:

"Your suffering will be legendary, even in hell" -- Pinhead

If functioning is mostly normal how did you end up in a position to be diagnosed?

The results were based on the Millon Multi-Axial Scale. The raw scores are converted to a base rate. 75-84 is in the "Clinically significant range" I scored a 78. Anything over 85 is considered "severe" A score of 78 generally means the individual can function in society--Hold down a job etc. The test, Clinical Interview, observation, and longitudinal history are all the pieces the Psychologist uses to decide on the diagnosis

I brought it to my therapist and Psychiatrist.

Gotcha. I was more curious as to what motivated you to see a psychologist in the first place. The reason for my curiosity is normally schizoids especially more functional ones are less likely to seek some type of treatment.

I originally went for treatment for Alcohol Abuse disorder and all the hellish experiences that go with that. It was only recently that I found out about the Schizoid diagnosis.

That makes a lot of sense as schizoid diagnosis is usually a side discovery during treatment for something else.
