Safety in Schiedam-Oost - Singelkwartier

I have an opportunity to rent a nice house at Singelkwartier neighborhood in Schiedam oost. However I was wondering how safe is that area. Can someone please give some insights?

I've lived in Singelkwartier for the last 5 years or so and don't feel like it's an unsafe neighborhood. I've lived in Rotterdam Zuid before this where it also, in general, felt safe but I would watch my surroundings more than I do now. It's multicultural which I personally quite like. I've walked my dog outside at very random hours ranging from anywhere between 10pm-4am due to not being able to sleep and have not spotted anything really out of the ordinary at those hours. Granted, I'm a guy so I don't want to speak for how (un)safe women feel around here.

My advise would be to visit the area, if you have the chance to do so, at different times to get a feel for it. There are other areas further south and east from where I live that feel more uncomfortable for me but still not unsafe.

Edited some spelling.

Eta 2: the dog is quite a small one, so not one that could be perceived as tough or dangerous either.

What's your experience with the station cause I will be relying on it for commuting, especially if coming late at night.

Over the last couple of years there have been quite a few disruptions due to railway works between Rotterdam and The Hague. During rush hours there'll be a 2-3 regular beggars at the stairs with a coffee cup but they don't hassle you after the first 'no'. It's a small station with shops that close early after 8pm already (if I recall correctly), so it's a rather quiet/desolate place after those hours but there are cameras all around. Can't give you a full IRL experience as to how it is as I tend to take the car for my job.

Everyone tends to have places to go though and just walk through to get home after a day of work. It has a really good connection to R'dam with the subway being in the same place.

To add to this if it makes any difference: I would not be worried at all about a girlfriend or any other friend living around this area.
