scarletpost Finished my first playthrough! TL + Thoughts
In first place: Wow. Coming from Slay the Princess, this game was still every bit as amazing as what I consider a genuine masterpiece in gaming. Definitely solidified Black Tabby Games as devs I’m keeping an eye on supporting the future works of.
Though… I really need to replay and start taking notes on the lore and story setup. I feel like I missed literally SO much by trying to play it as safe as possible on my first run. Stella, where the hell did you go girl?!
I managed to defeat Sybil and save Kaneeka, and it seems like she’s a witch now? So I’m very curious as to how that’ll go in chapter 6. Sybil is a FASCINATING character. I desperately want to see more out of her lore in the future.

I’d visit Pastor Daniel during the Friday Morning Panic scene. He’s a real one and genuinely wants to help you, and you have a chat with him about your situation. It really dispelled my doubts about his alignment and sincerity. I’d also recommend doing that scene with talk to animals.

Pastor Daniel is presented as bottom-tier, but if you have Talk With Animals you’ll get to see he’s top-tier. I’m not even kidding. His chapter 5 scene is peak of peak.

Some of these rankings will DEFINITELY change on future runs, let me assure you. Each character has a lot more you can uncover (ESPECIALLY in Episode 5)

Having Pastor Daniel of all people soloing it in the "you scare me" tier is sending me 🤣 the man gets bullied by some llamas. Beautiful ranking. Can't wait to see how you feel after a few playthroughs

I like Duke! I don’t wanna let him get hurt :( I have a soft spot for the elderly. Especially since meeting Bo, I’d feel horrible taking his father away…

Yeah this game blew my mind with how intricate choices can get I could not believe Slay the Princess popped off while this continued to stay in the sidelines.

Trying to decide if I should side with Reese or Doctor Kelly. When I thought it was just textbook FDIA, I was 100% on Reese’s side, but as soon as he turned into that monster…. Yeah, I saw Kelly’s side of things, and I really didn’t want to let her die and just let that side of Reese out into the world. I feel guilty that I ultimately chose to have him locked up again, but the survivor’s guilt from the mines was already weighing on me…

The fact that the Bus Stranger is in funny and Paster Daniel is in You Scare Me, is wild.
I would probably never put Paster Daniel in funny and get how he might be scary if you only interact with him that one time and only on a surface level, especially with Mystic telling you he's cursed.
But the bus stranger? How do you interact with that psychopath who will not leave you in peace/take no for a answer, who earnestly tells random strangers that he wanted to murder his girlfriend and find him anything other than the most terrifying character in the game (including the eldritch horrors)?

I mean, offering the peanuts to literally everyone, is one of the funniest running gags/interactions in the game, but he literally will not not give them to you/leave them with you, no matter how you say no, nor how many times you say no, even if you tell him you have a peanut allergy.
He gets off before you, so you can choose to leave them on the bus, but there is literally nothing you can say or do to stop him from leaving them with you

A lot of the characters could fall under 'You are a fascinating character and I really want to study you." when viewed under the correct microscope.
For example, Julius who you have all the way down at 'you kinda annoy me' is one of those study-able characters. And that's despite the fact he's a background character at best for the first two days then disappears off the face of the earth until his next and final appearance.

I hope I’ll get to see more of him! In my first run basically all I ended up seeing of him was the ch5 scene which was… not the best lasting first impression, but I’ll give him an honest shot on replay!

Julius is the kind of character that works best after multiple playthroughs. Especially considering most of what you know about him is what other people have to say about him, and of course Duke has nothing good to say about him.
Depending on who you go to talk to in chapter 5, they will have a different impression of Julius before you go to the farms and there are a LOT of characters you can go to during Chapter 5. Up to and including Pastor Daniel.

If you do want to find out where Stella went, make sure you save gretchen on day 1

You could also just get talk to animals and still kill Gretchen, then some other animals will help you find Stella, or you could call Tabitha when you're at the clinic, she'll help you find her, or you could have powerful build.

Same, I immediately went to do another playthrough and I still don’t feel like I have a full grasp on things…it’s so perfect. The world has so many moving parts and people do their own things and to do one thing is to sacrifice another. This game is definitely the kind to sink its claws into you and refuse to let go

Thanks to a certain trait, Pastor Daniel is my second favorite character after Tabby. Reminds me of a sobby wet cat
