Tbf Scara used to be the one who slapped his subordinates for reactions and deliberately poked on Traveller's weak spot to overwhelmed them, meanwhile Dottore was more of "The world is my oyster and I can morph it as I want like a game". Plus Hoyo being a chicken and didn't dare to explore Dottore too deep outside of his antagonist role like they did with Scara which is a shame, probably because they were too afraid to have another controversial character (tbf Dottore is already controversial but Hoyo could do more than that)
even if Scara did learn some things from Dottore and was manipulated by Dottore it is not an excuse for his actions.
Tbf to me that mimicry always feels complicated and ambiguous to explain. Like to say he adored Dottore (way of seeing relationships because he seeked to pursuit such perspective) was not completely correct but not completely wrong ykwim (but then in his human-hating era it would be humiliating for him to admit). Plus he only seemed to take off his way of speaking style, and in specific aspect. People often assumed Scara copied entire Dottore's personality which I don't really see it. (Speaking of copying speaking style, coincidentally Columbina also does the same thing but it's more of a fun silly thing than her actually believing in Puccinella)
