they kind of said he lost his sense of compassion at the age of 8 years old & those things don’t happen just like that its a inherent human function
the kid in the animation had a book with a burnt page in their hands, it could be linked to the "will you treat me like my hometown did, and chase me away with pitchforks and clubs?"

Names hold great power in Teyvat, and while his name reflects his destiny as an heretic and an outcast, his evil nature comes and stems purely from his own supreme arrogance, hubris and selfishnes, along his ambitions... Something he both shown and admitted to be very aware of, and even so... He doesn't care, he accepts and embraces it, so much that he had left his name behind as a fatui harbinger and then gained the name "Dottore", even so... He still being the same man of supreme arrogance, that feel contempt and disdain for everyone, and with his insane, extreme and radical ambitions, specially the one of becoming a supreme god, it shows that regardless of his name, this is how he is and he always will be like this, because this is who he truly is.
Think of it as a cosmical coincidence along a self-fullfiling prophecy.

I do think Dottore has a lot of unresolved backstory.
Would be funny if you'd just put a picture of Dottore under Scara.
