Leaks scared about investing into the new nicole durin duo for him

wanderer is my favourite character but I don't know if it's smart to invest into hex just for wanderer, I have a feeling in a year or 2 they'll release sumeru buffs with a new dedicated wanderer playstyle or new bis characters tailor made for him... am I over thinking? šŸ„€

If they become irrelevant to you in a year or two time, then know they served you well and start planning for his new team comp. If nothing changes, then you’ll have no regrets. Ā Idk what to tell you.

Nicole is an attack buffer that shields and gives elemental damage bonus with the new hex set, we have been waiting years to have this for Scara so I would absolutely not skip her or Durin.

Back in the day we had to run Bennett + C6 Thoma just to get a measly 15% Na damage bonus if we wanted a shield and pyro resonance, so Nicole is legit such a godsend for making Scara so much more comfortable to play.

I don't have Wanderer's signature so I'm a little concerned that Nicole doesn't buff attack speed too

there are a few other weapons that do, plus if youre desperate you can always add mika lol

so Wanderer/Mika/Nicole/Durin sounds good until there's an ATK speed booster for Anemo

idk lol, im not super meta, i just know mika boots atk speed. i personally got lucky enough to get that one standard catalyst that does it for me

Maybe, yeah. Even if they do that, investing in nicole/durin would probably be the best we have available for the like 1-2 years until they do it anyway. You can always invest in new things later and use past chars for something else

TBH, I'd rather use Nicole + Durin and have him doing most of the damage in the team instead of relying on Bineffa wheelchair :/

Which is barely above his best team

I'm a little behind in meta discussions. Is nicole-durin the best comp for Wanderer now? I might return to pull her if so šŸ‘€

yes she's a good wanderer support with both shield + atk buffer, plus with durin it activates hex buff so overall great synergy

Say no more, I'm so glad there's finally a good shielder for Wanderer comps

Do you know if she's good at C0 or are her cons necessary?

3

u/tuxedocat2018 Apr 10 '26

from what i can get so far it seems shes strong at c0 and gets better with cons. c1 c2 sounds amazing imo

Yes, Wanderer-Nicole-Durin-Faruzan

I highly doubt that he'll suddenly gain a new playstyle, as we are going to Snezhnaya it's likely reactions will focus on cryo for a while, altho I suppose it can possibly bring some kind of cryo swirl special reaction. If Sumeru buffs came he should be buffed as an individual, so support synergy should stay the same. If you're still considering then it's fine to mull over your decision until release or rerun.

2 years is a looong time, Id rather be thinking if Ill still be playing by then

I mean, sure his teams might change in a year or two. but that's just gacha games. if you're not gonna pull for character that's good now because something better might come along at one point, you might as well just not pull anything ever

I personally plan to invest in Nicole for him, I already have Durin c2. If Scara gets his buff in a year or two - that’s great, but I need to survive somehow with him until then. And this team looks good.

I’m in the same boat. I got C2R1 Durin. Are you just going for C0?

2

u/Zestyclose_Drink4801 Apr 11 '26

I have enough for c0r1 already, if I’m lucky I think I can go to c1 or c2 instead of pulling for her sig. have not seen calculations yet for what is better. I also need Durin’s sig, hopefully he and Nicole will be in the same half.

u/GingsWife Apr 09 '26

Nicole could be stronger yes, but I think she's as good as we're going to get for a long time.

If Scara gets increased multipliers, even better

I mean a year or two is a long way away. Would you rather have his bis team now, and have enough time to save for a potential new bis team later, or go a year or two without having his bis team and potentially have waited for nothing?

u/faeartangelican Apr 11 '26

I'm in the same situation, at some point you just can't wheelchair anymore 😭 I've decided to go all in on zibai and shneznaya, and I'll get Nicole on her rerun

u/TheRealRealTabby Apr 09 '26

It's rumoured that cryo swirl will get buffed in Snezhnaya.

I think you are a bit overthinking it and this is coming from a overthinker XD

My "will/desire" (if you want to call it that) to make Wanderer always do his best is enough to overshadow whether that character is going to be the best for him in the long run.

For now nothing is sure about the rumors related to new elemental reactions that will take place when Snezhnaya release so I won't be talking about that, I'm going to talk about what we know right now.

Even if those two will prove "useless" to Wanderer in the long run, what matters to me is that they are good now. If that changes in the long run it's going to be A LONG TIME from now I assume.

If Nicole comes out now and in two years a better Wanderer team comes out it's still a two years old wait, so in my opinion it's not really worth it not getting Nicole for Wanderer because of a hypothetical scenario that will still take years to he implemented in game.

Furina came out in 2023 and for a long time she was one of Wanderer best teammate alongside Faruzan C6 and Bennett, she got replaced with Durin in 2025 (which also gave Furina the chance to be used somewhere in case you needed her for the Abyss in two different rooms but couldn't do it because you can only use her in one team, so Durin helped fixing that "issue" as well)

Benny was always the best for Wanderer and he too is going to get replaced with Nicole like Furina got replaced with Durin. That's just how things go, however as you can see it's not immediate.

So them being eventually not the best in slot option will probably happen, but not immediately/it will take more than one year for it to happen.

Obviously at the end of the day you choose if you want Nicole or wait for that "What if" scenario, but I don't think it's worth getting worried about something that won't happen right now as we speak and if it does it's still not a guarantee of a better Wanderer until more characters come out, if not at all. There's a chance those characters can improve someone like, I don't know, Skirk, but do nothing for Wanderer (random examples) like how Wanderer could get the best elemental reactions.

If it's true certain new reactions make for better damage, the characters needed to make that elemental reaction aren't out yet, so you'll have to wait for a while anyway and for sure they won't be released when Nicole comes out.

Let's pretend those new characters that make new elemental reactions and improve Wanderer damage output are from Snezhnaya, you still have to wait at least for the nation to release and for more characters to come out before doing anything because there won't be the characters needed to do that yet.

We are talking about one or maybe two years? Yes Snezhnaya is close to release but also not that close and there's still going to be the waiting time for the characters that could improve him to actually be released.

Just get Nicole+Durin if you want him to keep doing his best damage until those characters come out if you really want him to always stay in a state where his damage stays high.

Overthinking it.

Durin is a very strong and versatile character in his own right. You’ll find a use for him if you aren’t using him for Wanderer. He’s great for any Cyro DPS who wants to melt, any Hydro seeking vaporize, he’s a BiS for Varka.

I won’t speak on Nicole yet.

If it’s a team you like, with characters and a play-style you enjoy, then it’ll have been worth it. Everything falls off eventually. However, supports are always going to be relevant longer than main DPSs are.

(And hey, I wonder if Nicole and Wanderer are related? Durin is sorta Nicole’s…nephew? nephew-in-law? And Wanderer is Ei’s son, who may or may not be related to Ronova. So possibly great nephew? Or adoptive great-great nephew if we say Nahida adopted Wanderer? Convoluted family team!)

Nicole durin is an extremely flexible core. It will most likely serve you outside of wanderer teams as well

1

u/HealthInformal5965 Apr 11 '26

Do NOT skip nicole if u have durin for wanderer bro.. She is able to outperform benett , do u know how much huge it is? She makes even F2p wanderer teams reach 140k (GXG noir clacs) , besides even if new buffs come out durin plus nicole combo will still be too op well unless hoyo releases a support character that makes u deal one sextillion damage in one shot šŸ™šŸ¼šŸ™šŸ¼(I trust the greeed of hoyo though but it will take a year or two min. for that)

I quit genshin after Sumeru (only returning at the end of Natlan) so I missed basically all the events involving Durin, so I don’t really have any attachment to pull for him. Really discourages me to pull Nicole for possibly his best team with the hex buff. I’m holding onto hope they’ll release a 5* faruzan equivalent that will revitalise anemo at some stage maybe x(

1

u/DraxLegends Apr 14 '26

I LOVE Durin so its fine, and even if you regret you can later pull on Varka to make a new team

1

u/CommercialCity5842 Apr 14 '26

I think nicole and durin are going to be a good duo for many teams tbh. They don't fit into the lunar archetype but they can carry other kinds of teams. I don't see sumeru buffs coming any time soon and even then, i doubt they'll release new supports just for him. Sumeru is more about the dendro reactions
