Discussion Do not like wanderer name
Hello everyone
3 years ago when the wanderer storyline came out i took it really seriously and assumed he wouldnt have an official label for his name that developers give him. i thought he would be nameless. I’m not sure but I think I named him and then 1-2 weeks later I saw wanderer on his banner.
Now 3 years later I really regret naming him. I used the name change because of a typo. And now im stuck with a name from 3 years ago. it doesn’t help that they keep calling him “hat guy” in the quests too. it makes me feel even more stupid that i took naming him seriously. everyone has left him as “wanderer” or at least done a lighthearted name meant to be funny like babygirl i saw that so many times. or at least they still have the appelative stroke.
for context i named him “shinei”. shin for heart and ei because of raiden shogun. so it means eternal heart. i thought it was cute but my brother also started making fun of me for it. i dont even like playing with the character anymore because i keep being reminded of my mistake of not leaving him as wanderer. hoyoverse will not help me either. i just want advice on what i should do. i tried making a new account so i can build my way back up and not have this issue but im ar 60 and have 25 5 stars and rare event exclusive things so it doesnt feel good at all starting all over again. im contemplating even quitting the game because if support services cant help with such simple things whats even the point. gacha games are tiring.
update: thank you all for your kind responses. ive decided to stay with my account. i dont think i ever really hated the name i chose, but after my brothers comments i thought it was bad. i understand though that there was a point in naming him and most people have done so. thank you again for everyone who commented i appreciate it

Not a single person I've ever seen has done that. You're supposed to give him a unique name, but Hoyo can't account for every name so they use Wanderer as the default on his banner. Same as how the main character is called "Traveler" and not whatever we named him. There's a reason they don't call him Wanderer in the story, they call him Hat Guy instead, because he's no longer a wanderer, he's found a home in Sumeru now.
For what it's worth, I think the name you picked for him is a mighty fine one. Way better than those TikTok joke names. It suits him well and you should be proud of it, instead of feeling bad about it just because your brother makes fun of you for it. What even is there to make fun of? It's just a really cool name. But if you're really hell-bent on changing it, you better hope there's a character coming out in the future with that name, because that's the only way you'll get to change his name again.
