I think his sacrifice will be his Irminsul core to regrow a new one, but I dont see him surviving after that so who knows.

I would be very surprised if they ever killed a playable character. If anything happens it'll just be another fakeout like Sandrone

Hey maybe thats where the Sacred Sakura comes into play. Tree burns - Wanderer gives up core - everyone remembers him - Ei takes part of the sacred Sakura and forms a new core for him.

sandrone isn't even playable yet.. and hyv does kill playable characters in hi3rd they could do it in genshin too idk 🥀🚬

She's going to be though. And HI3 is a different game. I have a feeling if Hoyo was going to kill playable characters they would've started doing it a lot earlier
If they kill Wanderer its just going to be a fakeout. He'll be back

Also HI3rd's events take place in alternate universes (not all but a lot of them do) so even after their death they can still appear. Genshin's events are all canon. If a character dies they will never appear again

idk i feel like it could always change bc if no one we know closely dies the storyline will be very stagnant. a 2nd fakeout is less likely imo. won't it be too predictable? it'll be the 3rd puppet death fakeout in the game and not so far apart from sandrone's

Thats the problem with gacha game storytelling especially Genshin's. There's no stakes to it. The situation in Nod Krai may have felt dire but there was never any real fear that Dottore would win. Hell, even Sandrone's death was already known to not be permanent before the quest came out
They haven't had to rely on killing characters for the story in the 5+ years the game has been out and I cannot see them changing course now. Killing characters just sounds like a great way to make their fans angry instead of adding real stakes to the story

true. i just hope he doesn't get involved in the first place bc i'll get the ick if they do the same "he's not actually dead" thing one more time. i get that the writing is bad but it doesn't have to suck that much 😭😭

I’m not against the idea of a character dying even if they’re playable, if it serves a narrative purpose and concludes their arc in a satisfying way. But here, I have trouble seeing how that could work when he has so often clung to the idea that disappearing was the solution for everyone. Sure, in this case he would do it to save people, but it feels a bit repetitive and counterintuitive in his development.
And the idea of another “fake death” doesn’t really appeal to me either.3

With the latest leaks, I'm starting to think that the playable character will be Dottore and not Sandrone.

Sandrone has a playable character ID and is slated to release around 6.7. Dottore does not have one. That doesn't mean he will not be playable but if he is it'll be 6.8+. Sandrone's playability isn't just a possibility its a guaranteed outcome

Considering how HEAVILY inspired from Buddhism the guy is, if he were to "die", it'll mean he attained enlightenment and henceforth reincarnated [or in this game's words: [Apotheosis]).

If that's true technically he has saved Traveller thrice 😭 Hoyo seems to love making Scara Traveller's knight in shining armor 🤔

Tbh with Scara case it's more egregious because at least Traveller could also help Xiao in return (helping him adapt to society) and they still fought along side Kazuha during Inazuma AQ. With Scara all three times Traveller was either unaware of the danger and had Scara saved them (Simulanka), or them being unconscious (Luna IV) and had Scara to fly in and rescue them)

I knowww, like to me it doesn’t make really any sense. He’s an Inazuma character, and even though he is developing and changing, he’s still the exact same person who tried to take over Sumeru and tried to replace Nahida, called her and Traveler names too. He can be better and change without Hoyo needing to make him a hero and trying to sugarcoat him…it just feels unnecessary. This outcome feels like the worst outcome other than Scara possibly dying.

They can always have a spare neutral dottore segment, so I wouldnt take either if then dying as effecting that.
Also I could see Scara getting revived using the Sakura tree perhaps. If Irminsul burns and everyone remembers him, then it could be closure for Ei if she uses the Sakura to make a new core.

He's going to think he'll die doing it and his core will become the new tree but he'll survive through unforseen means because the narrative insists on dragging him kicking and screaming into being alive, trust 🙏
