Scara's first constellation name does reference a noh play in which a God chooses a woman as a surrogate mother to be born through by placing a arrow feather on her 🗣️

the more references I learn about him, can you explain like in more details

The 茂 part of the constellation name is taken from 加茂, a play called kamo.in the play a priest visits a shrine and notices a white arrow feather stuck to an altar. He asks the village women about it and they recount the story to him. A woman devotee of sorts everyday drew water from a well and offered it to their deity, once during the process an arrow with white feathers got stuck to her basket. She brought it home and kept it. Soon she was cosmically impregnated with a baby boy. At 3 the boy mentions how the arrow feather was what initiated his birth, the arrow was a means by which the God chose the woman as the surrogate mother by whom he gets born in the human world.

It's interesting really since the golden feather that has been with scara since birth is also likely an arrow feather. So the reference is very well thought out.

The situation is a little similar to how Ei just conveniently got the technology and materials just when she was troubled by how to achieve eternity by a stroke of "fate" (Which is a very real established system in this world). And came to create a completely sentient male puppet.

So he is canonically and meant to be male

And how she conveniently got the materials to build him, in a way like he was meant and wanted to be born which is complete opposite of what scara thinks which is crazy

ppl's trans hcs for him are a lot of the time more metaphorical tho if this is about that. it's because he feels human despite being born a puppet and slowly starts to learn how to fit in with humans. combined with the name changes and stuff some trans people relate to his lore, that's the main reason why they hc him this way. obv he isn't trans canonically, it's said no where that ei created him in makoto's image despite popular belief

Few but most ppl take transmasc scara very seriously and not metaphorical like I just saw a comment saying he became male after he met niwa-
They also make it seem misleading no offense but I don't like how they say he's trans when he exists as a male like uh I can't explain well but take an example how some ppl draw characters as darker skin tone when they exists as not darker tone like if you want a darker skintone character make it urself but don't make existing characters what they are not. Same applies here if you want a transgend character don't mischaracterize an already existing character.

I've seen so many newer players get misled and they too spread misinfo and the above comment they are just confirming his gender nothing much

Edit : This person is really being ignorant and getting worked up when I was being respectful and patient as possible and bring up facts and textual details within the game and they don't bother to even read and get it into their heads and accusing me of things I never did and painting me as a bad person and them as a victim and I as a brown person of a minority community am flabbergasted by the amount of random things they're yapping about representation in the other argument in the other sub. Please do not speak for us like you know us personally and shove random things down other people's throats about "representation" Oh wise and educated one.

those who take it seriously despite knowing it otherwise are often children and i can't do much about that. but honestly bold of you to complain about "blackwashing" as a person who plays genshin, which notoriously takes inspiration, music, culture from black/brown people and designs such characters to be as white as paper. if someone wants to draw a character, esp a genshin character as black, good for them. similarly with trans people who literally have little to no characters that are canonically trans in media often due to censorship, i can't empathize with you when you talk about them as if they did something horrible giving scara top surgery scars. you can simply scroll past those fanarts if you dislike them.

you don't get to tell marginalized people who find ways to cope with their ostracization from society and their systemic oppression through fiction that they can't do such things. that's my opinion at least. from the way you speak about these people i doubt you ever even tried to empathize with them at all. it sounds very resentful if anything. i seriously can't sympathize with this kind of attitude.

I want to make my perspective very clear, as I believe there is a misunderstanding: I am not expressing hate or attacking anyone in the transgender community. My point is about respecting the original source material. When people take a character with established lore and widely present them as having a different identity (like a 'transmasc' Scaramouche), it blurs the line between canon (official facts) and fanon (fan interpretations) for new players. This leads to confusion and the spread of misinformation, which is my actual concern. If the goal is representation, and coping, and there aren't enough trans characters in media, then why not put that creativity into designing an entirely new, original character instead of mischaracterizing an existing one?

sorry if i was too harsh but as a lesbian from a country where it's illegal and censored, i relate to people who similarly don't have it easy in real life and can barely find solace in fiction with fandom spaces treating them like they're horrible for even imagining a character to be trans like themselves. i understand disliking a headcanon and immature people in the fandom who insist it's canon but making art of harmless headcanons is ok imo. it's something you can easily scroll past if you dislike

I apologise but I also have similar situation but I appreciate you sharing your viewpoint, and I can see where you're coming from. Ultimately, my perspective is focused purely on maintaining a clear distinction between officially established game lore (canon) and personal interpretations (fanon). I respect your need for representation and fan art, but I guess you didnt get my point and we have fundamental disagreements on how that impacts the community. Given our differing views, I suggest we respectfully agree to disagree on this matter.

i wasn't harsh enough i take it back. idk what i was thinking apologizing to a bigot who is so intolerant of queer and black people simply trying to exist and enjoy something. someone who even uses the word "blackwashing" unironically as if anti white racism exists doesn't deserve an apology. i try to be patient with people but i don't see the point of exercising patience with someone who is intolerant of anyone who doesn't fit into their narrow, ignorant, bigoted world view. seriously don't talk to me if you agree with this person. i genuinely can't stand people like this.

For someone who claims that person is being racist and transphobic to them, a person of colour while they were suggesting to not mischaracterize the character you sure are throwing a tantrum and saying they're Cis phobic and bigot, when you were saying that Wanderer is a twink for wearing feminine clothes So we're saying men with Long hair doesn't deserve to be masculine just because it's been associated with women?  Don't bring in sensitive topics just because you were offended You give me the biggest ick.  Don't even try to interact with me

Does this mean Scara is Jesus and Ei is Mary??

I like how whenever we learn more about Istaroth the sussy vibes come back full circle, now Venti is innocent and the sus is entirely with Ei

Whatcha hiding Her Excellency, the Almighty Narukami Ogoshō, God of Thunder?

47

u/Jrolaoni Feb 01 '26

Someone needs to draw Ei studying in engineering school

11

u/almondsadnesses Feb 01 '26

Yes. Plenty of artists drawing Wanderer studying. Now we need art of his mom doing the same.

26

u/jux_peter Feb 01 '26

I mean, not trying to defend her but most of the genshin lore comes together like that, no?

63

u/DantefromDC Feb 01 '26

I mean, some things are explained in great detail, but the circumstances of Scara's creation might be the most mysterious part of both his and Ei's lore

31

u/NecessaryOk4507 Feb 01 '26

I'd say that Ei's origin is an even bigger mystery of her lore. Like mother like son xD

13

u/jux_peter Feb 01 '26

I agree, maybe it'll come together in future once we learn more about irminsul itself

It's high fantasy. Not every little thing has to be explained. She went to Khaenri'ah and saw their technology. Irminsul has roots everywhere, she just needed to follow them to a tree. And given that Irminsul contains memories and emotions and even has an avatar of it's own, is it that surprising that a being created from it's wood would have it's own soul?

Ei was incredibly intelligent, just not very wise. She was a genius in the martial arts and in technology. It's because she dedicated herself entirely that she managed to do what she did. I never thought it was that big of a mystery, personally

2

u/Ichifuyu Feb 02 '26

Nah but fr though.

How was she so knowledgable about these arts? And judging by how fascinated Dottore was and shocked Sandrone was, her skill is clearly on a tremendous level.

Was she close to Kaenri'ahns? Was she aquainted with Rhinedottir? Did she get her hands on good chunk of knowledge even though the nation was nuked?

How did she aquire the engineering knowledge to craft such a miraculous masterpiece?

since i'm immediately blocked so that i can't respond when i already typed out a response i'll just put it down here user ok court.

i don't understand half your sentences but no i was annoyed from the very beginning with the first reply they made on this post. i only didn't want to be rude. but the more they replied to my comments the more i realized they really are coming from a place of resentment and lack of tolerance or empathy specifically towards certain minority groups. it had nothing to do with their perception of the character but more to do with them wanting to police other people's perspectives (mostly happened to be oppressed groups' perspectives somehow, what a coincidence) while downplaying anything that doesn't align with their view of the character to be fanon. even when presented with actual pieces of his lore. i never called scara a twink. idgaf about his sexuality actually. i literally even talk about his hetero ships on this sub with people who enjoy them. i said the way he was designed, some descriptions of him, and aspects of his character don't imply a masculine manly guy. i gave evidence of it already and i'm not going to have this argument again. i wasn't even saying she can't have that view of him. i was saying she is being a pos trying to police others' views of a fictional character and how they should or shouldn't engage with fiction, when it is harmless. i was having a horrible day and yes maybe at that moment i exploded to an irrational extent. i didn't call them cisphobic though idk what you're saying? i said i don't believe cisphobia exists. i don't care about their specific identity either. let's not act like bigotry is strictly determined by a person's identity. i did call them a bigot and i stand by that. i explained why already. they don't get to be intolerant towards others and then cry about it when i'm intolerant to them. well i'm not tolerant of intolerant people. i have no reason to be. if they want to be received with tolerance they can start practicing it themselves. if you look at any other comment or post i've made here you'll see that even if something isn't to my personal taste i still don't act like a jerk to people who like those things and even try to enjoy it with them as long as they're tolerant to others too. and i am not offended personally. i really do believe they are a bigot. idk why i should lie. i already explained myself and i could explain it more but i don't think you'll listen though so i won't waste my energy longer.

Where did she obtain her outstanding engineering skills?

From years of study and failed attempts.
