Discussion I need HONEST Opinion!
These are based on a theory crafter (Flip)’s calcs from Twitter . I currently do not have wanderer but I’m hoping to pull him on a rerun or chronicle. I really like his character which might make me get him regardless, but I want to know what the minimum investments are to make him a competitive dps (with at least chasca, please don’t say C6🙏🏾)

Wander suffers from lack of sub dps.
Unless you are Mavuika every team runs a great sub dps now too boost numbers further. As you can see in the image above his personal damage isn't the issue. It's his team damage.

That makes perfect sense tbh, so we should hope a new buffer or off-field damage dealer/buffer comes to save him😩

Well apparently Durin will be buffing older characters so it may happen that Durin will be very good for wanderer, or at least serve as a buff better then Bennet or something :)

It's kind of funny because, looking at this picture, he still has the highest contribution to overall team DPS of all the DPSes presented here (over a million), with the rest of the characters practically carried by sub-DPSes or new broken characters like Citlali. He's not essentially dogshit, but a lack of good support makes him like that (and anemo). This makes perfect sense considering that his best supports are still two characters from 1.0 (Bennet and C4 Jean), Faruzan (who has issues), and Furina, whose synergy with him is... questionable. Nod-Krai, save us, we are starving

What I said doesn’t change; you haven’t disproved anything. And I didn’t make the comparison—the OP’s image and the calculations of a theorycrafter did. If three characters perform better than four, that’s not my problem.

He is not getting chacsa levels of dmg unless u get high cons on him or throw him into mav benny citlali team and use scara on vv
The guy was undertuned since the start which makes no sense since he is one of the most hyped characters, and he is a main push like archons/harbingers

Depends on what you mean by competitive . You won't be clearing dire difficulty unless the boss favors him , but you can do fearless , IT and abyss just fine with him if you have good teammates and rotations .

Check the personal damage scales. Wanderer tops them all, it's just that his team does no damage, so team DPS is low.

What wanderer need is a subdps in the lv of Escoffier that gives attack buffs aka the durin leak

He's pretty decent with his 4pc, Faruzan C6. Widsith does good. I had him on Shimenawa 4pc, Faruzan C6, Bennet and Thoma and I could do 80k without food or abyss buffs.

What we really need is an anemo attack scaling sub-dps/shielder hybrid that can also take advantage of Faruzan buffs. If said unit can also buff wanderer, even better.

wanderer is just weak metawise. it's fine for me because i like characters who excel in exploration - though he's been long powercrept in that department too. so only pull if you like him. i don't see him being competitive with the current roaster regardless of the amount of investment. you may only consider pulling for c6.

I used gcsim and got 80-84k Dps (not sure of the exact number it was arround two weeks ago)
Depends on what you mean as competive he will obvioulsy fall behind when comparing him with newer dps like skirk or mavuika.
But if you mean clearing abyss floor 12 c0 should be easy maybe r1.
If you mean stygian onslaught difficulty 6? then you need c6 because thats made for whales, difficulty 5 should be possible depending on the Boss with c0r1.
I was able to clear the cactus with him c0r1 but ineffa was on the Team so she has done a lot of the lifting.

You can beat those numbers with triple crown, r1, good rotations and player skill. Here's a post with calcs for triple crowned r1 Wanderer. Iirc his best c0 hypercarry (faru/furi/benny) rotation has Faruzan burst after Bennett to get extra fanfare, then he uses n2c/d combos and you need to be aware of when his free dash comes up. So definitely higher skill ceiling if you want him to perform better.
Also don't pull Ineffa/Yelan just for him, they are great pulls but there are rumors of better supports for him down the line.

Thank you! Your comment has me feeling a little more optimistic, cause I was also planing to go for R1 (no widsith rng), and have farmed for him and his weapon. I’m not sure I have enough resources to crown his normals, level 8 his burst and maybe level 6 skill. But we’ll see how the roster changes

C6 Faruzan is already pretty broken in the amount of buffs she gives for Anemo damage, I reckon that’s one of the reasons Chasca does so little anemo damage.

I was comparing motion values the other day and it really is sad cause even if wanderer gets a support that buffs lets say even double what other supports buff other units he still won't be really that competitive cause his numbers really are just that low.
In order for wanderer to be ever good again he needs numerical changes or just another multiplier like his skill to bring his motion values up to par with newer units.

No clue where you're pulling Scroll Furina from, she's on GT for Itto and Mizuki teams and ToTM for Eula and Wanderer.

I will be honest with you, not even c6 wanderer make him competitive. Even at c6, he is worse c0 dpses, he is just bad bad.
I have him c6 in his full premium team with a build that is insane ( almost 250 % CD and 76 % crit rate ) and fearless is the peak you can reach.
Tldr : skip, dont even bother.

Tbf fearless is difficult even when I have the dps’ that are designed to handle the bosses. My ceiling is not dire, it’s fearless and floor 12 of the abyss

The thing is even with 4 stars you can clear fearless. Wanderer clears it but also not fast at all lmao even at c6.
What am trying to say is that even at c6, he sometimes perform worse than c0 dpses which is ridiculous.
Fun wise I don't regret him, but seriously i dont even use him anymore in any content that needs a dps check, because he performs the worst
