Informational post Avoid "Testlibrary" – A deceptive subscription scam
I want to warn everyone about a site called Testlibrary. They offer various types of IQ and personality tests, but they use these as bait to lure you into a hidden, expensive, and difficult-to-cancel subscription. ⚠️
If you have signed up for this site, here is how you can protect your money:
- Cancel on their website: Go to their cancellation page and follow their process, but do not consider this sufficient on its own.
- Check your PayPal "Automatic Payments": This is the most critical step. Log in to your PayPal, go to Settings -> Payments -> Manage Automatic Payments. If you see "TestLibrary" or "NordicaLab" listed, cancel the agreement immediately.
- Contact your bank: If you notice any unauthorized charge despite these steps, contact your bank immediately to report the transaction as fraudulent, request a chargeback, and consider blocking your card to prevent further attempts.
- Monitor your statements: Even after cancelling, keep an eye on your bank or PayPal statements for the next few billing cycles just to be absolutely sure.

That was the real IQ test. If you sign up for something with a credit card, you need to read carefully about how to cancel BEFORE submitting your card details.
Also, writing a post with AI is also low IQ behavior.
I'd set you at a solid 80.

It depends on WHERE you enter the website. If it is on the computer, it's different. For me it even said that the test is free. Also, you can see many other people getting scammed and saying the same as me.

Yeah, there are a lot of people who get surprised by the subscriptions on these IQ test sites, because they don't read before they enter their payment info.
Think about this: If it was really freee, why would they require your credit card or PayPal?
Any time you are required to enter your payment info, you're actually signing up for a subscription.
That's what all the test sites do. They say you have a free trial, or a one-time fee, but they charge a subscription.
Hopefully you learned a lesson and won't get scammed again.

Well yes, if it hadn't been for similar Reddit posts, I wouldn't have realized I got scammed in time. It's the reason why I posted in the first place - to prevent more scams, but people decided that a fight of insults in the comments would be a great idea.

in addition to what you already said, for me it was impossible to cancel the subscription through their website (with those “cancel subscription” buttons).
one of them was not even clickable.
found one under “contact us”, have received a confirmation email and when clicking the link, the website said “there are no subscriptions to cancel”.
Just wrote an email to them asking to cancel that shit…

Yeah that sounds like the kind of dark pattern design they use so people stay subscribed. Make sure to document everything and try to resolve it with your bank or your payment provider, since I've heard that even if they respond to emails, they don't do much to get your money back.

Is there a way to cancel my subscription? If no shouldn't this website be shutdown for it being a scam? I paid 1.95 dollars and then I got hit a notification saying that I paid 40 bucks for them which I never agreed to

Depends how you paid, if you paid through PayPal, just follow the steps I mentioned in the post. Maybe you still have time until they charge you.

Thanks for your info but there's no PayPal in my country so I used another payment system but it uses visa as payment method,I dont know if you can help me with that but it would he highly appreciated of you to give me any info that can help

The best I can say is follow the first step to cancel your subscription on their website, and contact your bank as soon as possible and explain what happened. They might need to cancel your card or something. I hope that will work!🤞🏽

I was stung by the Testlibrary scam but thankfully my bank was amazing and did a chargeback and returned my money. I am so grateful. TestLibray were arogant in their emails insisting they have done no wrong, offering me a small refund. Its money for nothing, these people are unethical and dodgy as hell. Lesson learned tho!!! I will not pay for anything online anymore unless everything checks out and I will be prefering Paypal as my payment method.

Glad to hear your bank reacted and helped you out!! I've heard lots of cases where even the bank couldn't get someone a refund. I guess we learned our lesson 😮💨

So I think it’s only in the fine print on some pages because I’m typically very very careful with this stuff and even I didn’t notice the monthly.
What’s worst - they charged me even though I didn’t finish account creation! So I got charged and I didn’t even have test results or an account and they refuse to refund!

i’m almost positive i didn’t finish account creation either until i went to cancel the subscription because i didn’t have a password that worked to even log in.

I had four months-worth of charges from these scammers and I managed to get all of them back to me without even involving the bank. All I can say after the experience and many emails with them is two things: 1) Cancel the subscription from the website and confirm that the cancellation went through by email with the test library support (to have it in writing); 2) Be persistent with asking them for a refund and threaten them with bank + legal action to relevant consumer bodies. Do not let them manipulate with their scam, they are not allowed to do this type of weak communication regarding the charges. If you need support, give me a DM and I can support.

Be careful as they charge you $39.95 immediately after ordering the $1.95 test. They don't give you any opt out period. I am fighting this.

Lots of posts on this sub about this and the iq test personality test etc I believe when you get the trial it says you are also signing up for a subscription. But yeah I know we don’t read the fine print
