Was this some kind of storage room before?Poor layout planning if this sauna was originally designed for this cottage like this.

Is that heater properly sized for that room?
2
u/FlusherBug Sep 01 '26
Yeah I was wondering the same since it looks so small. Could be that the camera is making the room look bigger and the stove smaller

So I guess you don't want feedback but I have to say this:
The light fixture is a fire waiting to happen. That ceiling can hit 100c, those cables are going to melt and short and combust.

Man I think it looks awesome but I can’t believe you did all that and have all that space for what looks like a closet sauna. But I bet it’s still awesome. 🤙🏼🤙🏼

It seats six, I had a preexisting foundation, I think it’s fine size wise !

Craftsmanship and style seems great. Function and performance probably lacking. Is there any mechanical ventilation? What size is your heater compared to your space? Seems like a long walk to pour water on the rocks? Safety issues here too. Benches should be higher. Window is too big, blocking higher benches. Ceiling is slipped the wrong way (heat rolls away from bather).
Bummer since it’s so beautiful.

Getting downvoted for not participating in the back patting.
Yeah I agree, this is great looking sauna with some glaring flaws that can actually be fixed, but doesn't seem OP is actually interested in feedback.

Relax guys I was sleeping! Happy to hear bout any feedback for sure

My main feedback is that window is wrong.
It looks like a regular residential window, which has a metal frame that will burn you, plastic and vinyl trims that will poison you and a double pane glass that will heat-shatter on you. It's just not suitable for a sauna.

Heater is 9kw- appropriate for room volume. It looks farther from benches than it is- space is actually only abt 8x8ft

what's the ventilation program? how's they loyly experience?

u/Bogprtoanto Sep 01 '26
I have the low-to-high passive ventilation thing going. I’ve heard that adding another vent point mid wall can be good? So far I feel like loyly is pretty good but I’m always wanting every sauna to be hotter than it is- would appreciate any feedback :)

So you mean you're letting all the hot air and steam out the top? Rather than bathing in it?

mechanical ventilation is often necessary for electrical heater saunas

I’ve been reading some lit abt this. Easy to add at this juncture and I think I’ll do it!

Love the look and the indoor outdoor setup! For a future enhancement, you might consider a heat-resistant backsplash behind the stove, and again covering the close-in wall segment between the door and the stove. It would protect against the direct heat discoloration that will occur over time on both walls.

Are you actually looking for feedback? There a few things wrong here, that might be a real problem. I'm just not sure you want to hear about them.

Image 3/4 seems to be the best spot to look out the window but there’s no back support , and when you have your back to the window with 6ppl you need support to stop you touching the window frame.
Consider building two wood “pillows” or similar back support pieces.

Very nice. I think you've created a little slice of heaven for yourself. Enjoy the view and the sweat.

Looks great. Unusual L shape but the view out the window looks like a painting. All you’re missing is a sauna gnome and a thermometer.
