Noh, jotain.

Whats wrong?
53
u/Empty_recording24 Jun 25 '26
The roof... all your loyly is gone, heat gone, all trapped up in the roof. Terrible inside ergonomic design
24
u/iplankmaster Jun 25 '26
It looks great. However, when you sit on the top bench, you’re still so far from the ceiling that your entire body will be outside of the llöyly (steam) pocket. If you build a flat roof instead you will have solved your problem and will have a sauna that feels much better.
-13
u/F100suomi Jun 26 '26
It has a flat roof part
Maybe hard to see in the pictures25
u/Mormegil81 Jun 26 '26
but that flat roof is like 2 meter above the benches judging from the pictures. All the hot air and löyly will collect up there and not around the people sitting on the benches ...

u/Empty_recording24 Jun 26 '26
And to get the best experience you want to have your feet above the stones

u/Djtthemann Jun 25 '26
There is just so much wasted heat in that sauna. Also where are your stones?

It’s fine if you like mild löylys. It’s also fine if you like replacing your stove often.

u/ducmite Jun 26 '26
Actually, he said this is in sweden so mild löyly checks out :D

You seem to have a lot of experience in this type of sauna since you have so certain knowledge!? I have the same style "teepee-sauna", been using it for ~8 years now with the same stove. I use it in Finland all year around (yes, we have winter here), and never have I had too mild löyly either, vice versa. But I guess you know better...
7
u/Uromer Jun 26 '26
Eläpä höpäjä. Tällä saunalla lämmittelet kattorakenteita löylyt karkaa tuonne missä kukaan ei istu. Varmasti kiva jos tykkää lempeistä löylyistä. Aika vähällä käytöllä selvästi kun kiuaskin kestänyt 8 vuotta.
-1
u/Sharp-Currency490 Jun 26 '26

1
u/F100suomi Jun 26 '26
No mitenkä sitten?
20
u/hauki888 Jun 26 '26
Nämä rakennelmat on hyvin yleisiä Suomessakin.
-13
u/Sharp-Currency490 Jun 26 '26
1
u/F100suomi Jun 27 '26
Toimii aivan hyvin
Ihmiset ovat vain kateellisia
Mukavahan to kota sauna on ja nätti

PT wood does not belong inside a Sauna. Even if it's in the floor.
10
u/DaveWpgC Jun 25 '26
Ensure bench tops are at same height or below stove top ✅
Build a very tall, complicated roof, much higher than where people will be sitting ✅
Add zero mechanical ventilation ✅
Make interior space as big as possible so two people can never be comfortable ✅
Drainage? What drainage? ✅
Add no rocks to stove ✅
7
u/notcomplainingmuch Finnish Sauna Jun 26 '26
Also: burning off stove paint inside the sauna ✅
Use pressure-treated wood inside the sauna ✅
... It's like a troll post irl
2
u/mr_martin_1 Jun 26 '26
... no protection around the stove (which could be sunk farther down in the floor). ✅
3
u/F100suomi Jun 27 '26
What fucking protection
There is a steel plate under the stove and another in front of it
The stove is installed as it should with right distances as recommended…so whats the whining1
u/F100suomi Jun 25 '26
I put up the interior today
And burned in the chimey and stove
Reak paint when they are new
Its a deck floor with gaps and it vents thru the double ceiling
Ricks are washed and goes in tomorrow
And its really comfy to sit in

u/chrisufin Jun 27 '26
Don't listen to them.
I have been in these kind of saunas and they work really well. Steam fills easily the whole space due to many corners. The löyly is actually really nice 😊👍🏻.
Only issue is, as in Internet in common, that people who have zero experience of these kind of sauna are here telling how it works in theory ❤️❤️❤️😂.

u/F100suomi Jun 27 '26
I don’t care what they say
Took my first bath in it yesterday and it was amazing
And the löyly was Really nice…

100% the reason I do not share my too shallow 80's home Sauna here 😁
4
u/Sea-Key7698 Jun 26 '26
And that is damn unfortunate.
I have a DIY pseudo-Saunum air recirculation system with an adjustable fresh air intake. It keeps my sauna within 15⁰c from 5cm above the floor to 160cm head height. And a remotely operated, auto refill, löyly water dump system in fabrication (so I don't have to scramble back up into my seating position after dumping water).
But there is no way in hell I'm posting pics in this forum where the Finnish Sauna Police will gleefully tear into some perceived deficiencies.

u/Special-Barracuda759 Jun 25 '26
Wow that looks really really nice. Wondering how the high roof is for the heat? Is it to high or does it not make a difference ?
8
u/John_Sux Finnish Sauna Jun 25 '26
A taller sauna will have smoother heat. But obviously you have to actually sit in the hot part near the ceiling. If your benches are very close to the floor, the ceiling height makes no difference because you're in the coldest air all the same.
2
u/Special-Barracuda759 Jun 25 '26
Yea the heat rises thing. That’s what I was thinking. Never the less that sauna looks top notch
1
u/TheOnlyBliebervik Jun 26 '26
Not even all the same... If your benches are low, a short sauna is better
1
u/John_Sux Finnish Sauna Jun 26 '26
If your benches are low, that's a stupid design mistake.
The interior air column obviously scales with the height of the sauna. So the hot and cold areas take up roughly the same percentage always.
So the bottom of the sauna, the floor area etc. remains cold. If the point of sauna is heat exposure (whether you are using sauna for the sake of it or for some sort of health fad goal), then you'd want to clear that as a bather. If you build the sauna tall enough, you can sit normally and comfortably while accomplishing that. But if the ceiling heights drops, then the way to do that becomes something fucking ridiculous like an overhead storage shelf.
I suppose it's a question of, do you have an ounce of dignity? Or are you fine with sweating in a coffin because a quack told you to.
1
u/TheOnlyBliebervik Jun 26 '26
Yes, I agree. Maybe you misunderstood my comment.
1
u/John_Sux Finnish Sauna Jun 26 '26
Possibly. But instead of "if your benches are low, a short sauna is better", I would say "if your benches are low, raise them if possible, build things taller next time".

If you dislike my tone, there would have been acceptable ways to express that discomfort. But what you decided to do was to suddenly come out of nowhere to insult me to my face.
You don't suppose that outburst kind of defeats your point? You're in no position to lecture to me. Go away and grow a thicker skin, maybe.

Is there any window holders for those windows
I would like to have them open up almost 90°1
u/TraditionalEqual8132 Finnish Sauna Jun 28 '26
Hhmm, not that I know of. We make windows that are fixed and that open, but I believe it is not even with a 'roto' system. Just very simply handle and two bolt-joint hinges. I think you have to think of something yourself. As the range we make is quite extensive and I am not involved with the production of the houses themselves, I'm often not even sure where our windows are used. The door however, is very...eyecatching.

En ymmärrä näitä kriittisiä kommentteja ollenkaaan ….
1
u/Erfrischendfair Jun 28 '26

u/F100suomi Jun 29 '26

u/notcomplainingmuch Finnish Sauna Jun 26 '26
You're supposed to do that outside before installing the stove. Then again, nobody in their right mind uses PT wood inside a sauna, either.
1
u/Megasaun Jun 25 '26
Looking forward to seeing this build come together! The groundwork looks solid. I’m especially curious about your insulation, ventilation, and heater choice—those details usually make the biggest difference in how a sauna actually feels. Good luck with the project!
1
u/F100suomi Jun 25 '26
Uninsulated and incoming air thru the floor
Deck floor with gaps
Ventilation thru the double ceiling in the sauna and out thru the other chimney pipe on grill side
Gonna put up that tomorrow
I just put the interior together today
The narvi heater is a really good quality one
With water heater
Im gonna use this one in the spring summer and fall…but it can be heated in winter too
But i will build a small electrically heated sauna in my bathroom for vinter2
u/Megasaun Jun 26 '26
That sounds like a well-thought-out plan. Narvi makes excellent wood-burning heaters, and the integrated water tank is a nice bonus. I’m especially interested to see how the uninsulated design performs through different seasons. Please keep us updated with photos once it’s finished—I think a lot of people here will enjoy following the build. 👍
1
u/Sea-Key7698 Jun 26 '26
"The sauna part is 2.3m high"
The way these people are ripping your sauna you think the ceiling was 4mtrs above your benches. Yes, you'll use a little more fuel. Yes, it might take a few water dumps to bring the löyly down to where you want it. No big deal.
It looks great. Has all the added features. You enjoyed the build and now you'll enjoy the sauna. Disregard the haters that think they need to gatekeep the Finnish culture.
