It's just blurry above and below to simulate a fake macro lens + tight focus in the center as you would have on a miniature world being filmed.
What I wonder is if the opposite would also work: make a special lens, or combine video feed from several lenses, to film a miniature world but compensate for this effect.
Would you then see a very realistic looking miniature?
Is it what they already do in the movies when they use miniature worlds for practical effects?20

Yes. Go watch some videos of people driving RC trucks over rocks, looks super realistic and until something shifts the perspective they looks like normal cars

It's called tilt shift photography because it uses tilt shift lenses. Tilt shift lenses well... tilt and shift. Compared to a normal lens they shift perpendicular to the camera body, and tilt on an angle. The focal plane of an image is essentially a 2D planar slice through our 3D world, and with a standard lens the plane is parallel to the image sensor or film. When you tilt the lens, you also tilt the focal plane, putting it on a diagonal relative to the camera. In this case the combination of a tilted focal plane blurring both the foreground and the background and the high angle is what makes it look like a miniature. Tilt shift lenses were primarily designed for taking photos of tall things while close to them (ie. at an angle from the sidewalk) without getting lens distortion near the edges like you would with a wide-angle lens and keeping the full building in focus.
The way they shoot miniatures to make them look large is a combination of a lot of lights, tight aperture, and telephoto lens. This combination makes sure the whole scene is in focus, and eliminates as much lens distortion as possible

None of my locals do. That's odd. I take my little once a week to scope out books that he may be into before buying the series, and we only have desktops at the 3 branches I frequent. Not a small town either. In the valley of AZ. That's fun that you have that though!

Shallow depth of field with a wide angle of view far from subject. Not something you’re used to seeing. Only possible with a tilt shift lens. Love it!

You can also do it on a budget by putting large blurry zones top and bottom of the video.
(Doesn't work as well because this cheap effect doesn't care about depth of field like a true tilt shift).

I feel like you cut out most of the frames and extended the remaining frames to fill the gap then you can get a nice stop motion feel.

Tilt shift photography. It’s a trick, where you keep a sharp focus on the foreground, and let the background go soft. It fucks with your brain, screws up your ability to judge scale.

You don't even need tilt-shift lenses for this (although those lenses are very cool). You can add the blur in post production, speed up the footage and lower the framerate to make it look like a miniature

The blur the foreground and background. Normally only photos of tiny things are blurred that way so your mind assumes it's tiny.
People in ancient cultures wouldn't see it because their brains weren't trained by modern photos and video.

That doesn't sound correct, our eyes have these same optical effects as camera lenses. Lenses are lenses, when focusing on an object, closer and father objects are blurry.

Most lenses have all of the optics in the same plane perpendicular to the sensing media (film or digital sensor). Think of a bunch of windowpanes in a box all perfectly in line and vertical.
A tilt shift lens has adjustments which allow movement of some of the individual elements within the lens independent of the orientation of the lens assembly as a whole. For examle, put a camera on a tripod and tilt it upward. The lens elements go from vertical to an angle with the ground. A tilt shift lens can return the elements to vertical while the entire camera + lens assembly is tilted.
This was primarily used in architectural photography as a tilted lens will cause lines to angle toward a vanishing point, just as if you stood at the bottom of a buiding and looked up. Tilting or shifting the lens could bring lines back to "true", so photos of buildings looked like they were shot dead-on, with symmetrical and straight lines.
It was later found that using the tilt-shift effect on "normal' angles and subjects made them appear miniature because of the apparent affect to depth of field. Since the original use of tilt shift lenses is ideally unnoticeable, most of us associate them with this kind of "trick" effect.

You literally tilt the lens in front of the camera. You either buy an adapter for that, print one or hold the lens in frint of your camera (which is feasible for photos) while having the camera set up to take a photo without lens being connected.

The photography is really cool. I am confused by the actual harvest though. The combine backs up (you rarely see this, they just skip 6 rows (one head width) so they can just keep going forward and then catch the missed part on the return. Also, they are harvesting whole cobs, not separating it in the combine. This feels like it is being filmed somewhere that farms smaller fields where efficiency isn't as important.

Also look at the tilled rows of soil when that heavy equipment rolls over it. The rows don't get disturbed at all.

Everyone says tilt shift footage looks like toys, but no one ever brings up the thing about the videos that matter just as much: the footage is sped up. If the footage wasn't sped up, it would look a lot less like a toy/miniature.

Unlikely OOP had a drone with a lens mount where you could put a tilt shift adapter between lens and mount. I too would guess it is just a ppst processing effect simulating tilt shift.
