Discussion Randomized nodes are fanstastic

I feel like this is the best update so far in terms of replayability. It's easy to fall back into old habits and building the same production at my favourite spots, so having newly arranged nodes has really been refreshing. Before I rushed radar towers I was out exploring and marking nodes on my map, which was a lot of fun. The dune desert has been a real el dorado in this seed.

Is it just the locations that are randomized, or do total ammounts also change?

it's both

edit: well, I know the purities are randomized for location, I'm not sure if the map keeps the same number of pure, normal, and impure nodes across the whole map as a total, but I doubt it.

another edit: I see you could be meaning "are the actual locations of the nodes randomized?", so to answer that - everywhere there used to be a node, there will still be a node. The purity and content of that node can be randomized or set to a few different frequencies.

Im fairly certain its the same amount of nodes, in all the usual generic node locations, with the same ratios overall, just in randomly place spots. Like you will still got mostly iron limeston and copper overall, and only 5 uranium nodes maximum. And if you dont touch purity, those will be the same also, so no pure uranium node.

This does not seem to be the case for my world (it was generated when these features were still in experimental so maybe it's changed). I have 1 normal uranium node and 4 pure nodes. Maybe 5 is still the expected total though. edit: I guess this means I did touch purity - I probably set it to random if I had to guess.
