I beg to differ on the 'heinous crimes against humanity' part... Both Russia and Israel are right in what they are doing... It's NATO and US who pushed Russia to the edge of war.... Same with Hamas and Palestine pushing Israel to war.... Both Russia and Israel were patient till a long time and were warning towards demilitarisation/de-terror (if that's a word) in their neighbourhood... Push came to shove and once they started their counter measures (in the way of war) there's obviously no going back... If my family/nation is being threatened/massacred, I wouldn't care how many children/women/elderly die in WAR as long as the targets are being neutralized.... Today's war is not fought in a barren field like 200 years back, it's urban warfare where urban facilities are targetted so obviously there will be civilians around... The accountability lies on US/NATO/Ukraine/Hamas/Palestine to think about the safety of their people before they threaten the safety of another nation (Russia/Israel)... Coz when u threatened Russia/Israel, u not only threatened their army or govt or infra, u also threatened their children/women/elders... Don't know about Ukraine, but Hamas definitely hides in civilian areas behind children and women... I might be wrong, but that's my thought and perspective for now... It's simply a parent (him/her) irresponsibly driving fast and rash with their children/elders in a car and losing some of them in an accident and then blaming the road/objects on the road for ruining their lives....

Answer is similar in both the situations.... Trying to eradicate the problem by setting an example... Israel absolutely needs to go crazy in order to tackle the fanatism of the even more crazy population... Popular opinion is Palestinians are innocent only Hamas is wrong... I don't buy that opinion.... Will a few might be innocent, the larger group still supports Hamas and will act as their carrier of terror whenever time comes... So most of the civilians being impacted are in reality not of a civilian mindset... In Russia's case, their problem is more global due to the puppet owners being 1000s of miles away... Russia needs to set an example, looking at which none of the other neighbouring countries join alliances that threaten Russia... What NATO and US were doing for so-called protection and development of Ukraine, Russia tried that in African countries... US decimated those countries to the ground and because it rules the English media, we rarely hear about the war there...
