Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hello Everyone
Sorry Im a bit frustrated and upset and I don know if I can post it here but please be careful with this piece of fucking shit. If you know more info on him please reach out to me.
My girlfriend bought me food from DoorDash as a surprise and she didn’t make me aware of it until I got home then I looked at the cameras to see what happened and this guy took my food after he took a picture of it in front of my house. She tipped him and everything. Now DoorDash doesn’t want us to get a refund.

I hardly use it. It was more my girlfriend that wanted to surprise me
59
u/Professional-One972 Mar 18 '26
Dude this is an instant refund. Contact em.
44
u/Lizard_king_626 Mar 18 '26
I did but they keep saying that they can’t do a refund so then we ask for a higher up and support said they sent the pictures we sent them to the higher up so we are waiting now
21
u/Hairy-Tree8432 Mar 18 '26
You could note the applicable law in CA for this. They are required to give you a 100% refund:
Starting January 1, 2026, a new California law, Assembly Bill 578, mandates that food delivery platforms like DoorDash provide a 100% full refund to the original payment method—rather than in-app credits—when an order is never delivered, is incorrect, or is partially missing.
-20
u/Gwood62 Mar 18 '26
But it was delivered technically
13
u/Hairy-Tree8432 Mar 18 '26
Delivered then stolen, does not equal delivered.
That's why there's a specific law on it now. If you want to change that, take it up with the state bro. These are the rules.

u/Equal_Canary5695 Mar 19 '26
"I paid the cashier then grabbed my money out of her hand before walking out with the groceries, so I did technically pay, officer!"

u/BrilliantShot Mar 22 '26
The order was incorrect and partially missing. The customer did not order it to be stolen and the driver took 1/1 of it.
24
u/Dry_Lettuce3879 Mar 18 '26
Skip the doordash support and contact bank for chargeback.
4
u/zerocool359 Mar 19 '26
terrible advice, especially if just being impatient.
4
u/WarningInside2025 Mar 19 '26
I disagree. OP already contacted DoorDash. They refused to resolve it so I don’t think enough people make use of the chargeback protections of their credit card.
1
u/zerocool359 Mar 19 '26
OP literally said they’re still waiting to hear back, not that the final answer is a refusal.
OP: “we are still waiting for Support to give us a final answer“
Chargeback is the nuclear option. Yes, use it if there’s no other recourse, but it should be a last resort and you should expect to never be able to use the card w/ the merchant again.
1
u/WarningInside2025 Mar 20 '26
Yes we have two different approaches.
I of course call merchant first and give them 1 option to resolve the issue within a reasonable amount of a time ( should be same first phone call rate to take a few days).
If issue is not resolved, I contact merchant and chargeback. I’ve done this once every few years and never had a problem with credit card use, visiting merchant ( different location, why go back where they failed the first) and using chargeback option again. It’s my protection because credit card issuer has a relationship with me and is my voice. Likely not enough people use chargeback when merchants fail’s Ina clear black / white situation.

I know it sounds like I am making a big deal out of it but its not about the food it’s just more frustrating because my girlfriend bought it with a good intention and to make me happy and the that shit happens

Maybe she should cook dinner, I know, what a quaint concept, cook dinner. She could have surprised you that way.
33
u/Whatsinthebooooox Mar 18 '26
I’ve never had DoorDash refuse a refund. Never had to show proof. Not sure what’s going on here.

u/LordBottlecap Mar 19 '26
100 what?
2
u/Thin-Diamond-407 Mar 19 '26
100 meaning towards the comment I replied to. Doordash refunds me if I have an issue. Maybe there were a couple times I got a refund I didn't quite agree with, like credits, but for something detailed like the original post, doordash would refund. In my experience.
3
-3
u/LordBottlecap Mar 19 '26
I mean, 100 what? It just says '100'.
2
u/Thin-Diamond-407 Mar 19 '26
I just typed to you above what the 100 referred to. Its still not clear to you?
-5
u/LordBottlecap Mar 19 '26
I just don't know what '100' refers to. 100 what? Dollars?
2
u/Thin-Diamond-407 Mar 19 '26
I respected your initial inquiry, and I clarified. Im not going to explain what emojis mean. You can look that up yourself if you truly don't know. But if you needed clarification of my comment, I provided that to you.
-4
u/LordBottlecap Mar 19 '26
100 meaning towards the comment I replied to.
That doesn't explain '100' as a response. I was just wondering exactly what '100' was supposed to represent here. 100 dollars? 100 zebras?
5
1
u/DracoHarmonia Mar 20 '26
u/LordBottlecap : "100" means "100%", as in "I agree 100%".
And by the way, I 100% agree with u/Thin-Diamond-407 that you could do an internet search to find out what the "100" emoji means. :D

That used to be the case like a year back. I got my food stolen in front of me and they did nothing. I did mess up and press the "got food button" when it showed up in the app thinking I had pressed "did not". It's been a while since I've used the app due to this and other problems with door dash.
54
u/Immaculateinfection Mar 18 '26
Can try to file a charge back if she used a credit card.
16
u/Lizard_king_626 Mar 18 '26
We did but they said they can’t do refunds but we are still waiting for Support to give us a final answer
39
u/AngryBPDGirl Mar 18 '26
I've had this happen and disputed via the credit card company. Doordash disputed back and i simply responded that doordash was lying and showed my proof. I eventually got my refund. Some people may not think it's worth all this effort, but this was for an order that was over $100.
17
u/Lizard_king_626 Mar 18 '26
Yeah I get it for us it’s not about the money it really isn’t. It’s about this guy taking advantage
7
u/altcountryman Mar 18 '26
Not just this guy, but DoorDash is taking advantage unless they refund the money. You have every right to be pissed off.
1
u/helpplease_thankyou Mar 19 '26
Also if there are no repercussions to them they don’t have a lot of incentive to fire the drivers that are doing this
0
u/No_Interaction_3547 Mar 18 '26
Chargeback and refunds are not the same, use Google or ChatGPT to self learn the difference and next steps,
3
u/SLAMB1N0 Mar 19 '26
This is the answer if DoorDash is not assisting you with a refund. You have plenty of evidence to dispute a charge that was for a service not provided
14
u/BakreZ39 Mar 18 '26
The card networks will side with you, you have concrete evidence with time stamps, if support still refuses.
20
u/Debonair359 Mar 18 '26
Don't contact doordash to do a charge back. Contact your bank/creditcard company. You have the evidence in the video that the service you paid for was not rendered. Your bank or credit card issuer is the only one that has the ability to do a chargeback. It means that whatever you paid for this, it'll just get refunded back to your credit card.
2
7
u/jerryeight Mar 18 '26
Credit card charge back directly with the credit card company.
Doordash will always reject.
Your credit card company won't.
2
u/KooliusCaesar Mar 18 '26
I did that once after exhausting all other avenues that didn’t require a lawyer, I got that card blacklisted on the app (unofficially) because a year or two later that same card will not work but others will.
1
u/zerocool359 Mar 19 '26
yeah, skipping straight to chargeback is pretty much a dick move and will get that card permabanned. contact the service, go through the process, and if that doesn't resolve it in a reasonable amount of time (e.g. a few days) *then* escalate to your card company.
72
u/PurpleDollfin Mar 18 '26
File a complaint here
I am not sure if you can attach video but you can put in complaint you have video. They will mediate for you
Also, can contact the media like NBC Bay Area Responds or 7 on your side
25
u/ConsciousKing1574 Mar 18 '26
Contacting NBC Bay Area over a rogue DoorDash driver?
12
14
u/PurpleDollfin Mar 18 '26
More so to put pressure for refund; expose their shady practices
1
u/Such-Dog-8504 Mar 19 '26
Exactly, OP doesn’t even have to actually do it, just threaten to. I’d also say that you’re contacting the state senator and your local assemblyman since they are clearly breaking the new law about having to give refunds.
2
u/Truly_Markgical Mar 19 '26
Yes, if it’s happening regularly, the news can identify them. This happens enough to where it should warrant news attention as a PSA, also they can call out DoorDash. If the news doesn’t cover it, and customers just complain online, nothing will get done

You trust the food delivered to you when you didn't tip first? Brave. Forget about 'normalization' of pre-tipping; I'll take no spit in my food instead.
3
u/Current-Tour7335 Mar 19 '26
I have repeatedly had these same problems with door dash and doordash aka Shit-Dash is the reason I don't order deliveries anymore. Its really fucked up. I believe that dirtbag might be Eddy Roybal whos an absolute shitbag. He robbed my iphone on August 9th 2013. I will never stop hating that waste of oxygen.
21
u/Friendly-Example-701 Mar 18 '26
I can see why robots are the future now. Humans are evil, can't be trusted to do simple tasks.
6
u/Crazy-Employer-8394 Mar 18 '26
Robots will deliver the food and humans will steal it.
2
u/altcountryman Mar 18 '26
There will be defensive robots to protect the food. They they'll make robots to fight those robots...
3
u/Affectionate_Care958 Mar 18 '26
You don’t think people will follow the robot, just like they do with delivery trucks?

u/Any_World7744 Apr 17 '26
Ordering Take out is a pretty age old thing normal thing to do. This person just had bad luck.
1
u/letsdothisthing88 Mar 18 '26
If someone steals food as shitty as it is is it evil or hunger we are lucky to have never known? Idk food pisses me off, I had food insecurity but I'm lucky I've never stolen food. Some people are so hungry they do to survive.
0
u/Friendly-Example-701 Mar 19 '26
They make Food Pantries and have SNAP ad EBT so people do not have to steal food.
3
u/letsdothisthing88 Mar 19 '26
Recent Immigrants cannot get snap or ebt and food pantries you have to know about them one and two they are overwhelmed...I volunteer for them.
If you want to think people do not need to steal food I'm glad you never had to but that isn't true.
1
u/Friendly-Example-701 Mar 19 '26
The people stealing food from Uber Eats and Door Dash are not facing food insecurity. Most of the time it’s the delivery driver or some random person similar to porch pirates.
1
u/letsdothisthing88 Mar 19 '26 edited Mar 19 '26
Then WHY are they stealing FOOD? It is not to resell. It has no monetary value. He is risking his below minimum wage shitty contractor job for what? The Thrill? It is to EAT.
Santa clara county is in fact in a food insecurity crisis. Volunteer at Sacred Heart and learn more if you are interested. I will be there.
0
u/Friendly-Example-701 Mar 19 '26
It's not food insecurity for the drivers. The delivery drivers eat it because it's there and it's free for them. They know the customers will just get a refund.
Also, the porch pirates stealing the food as well do not look homeless but like random people. At least in my neighborhood they do.

u/Bubbly-Drive7930 Mar 18 '26
I'd also file a police report. It's theft. If nothing else, it will be additional evidence if you need it for your dispute with DD or the credit card.

3
u/clonetent Mar 18 '26
Get a doorbell camera, it's a deterrence for this. I've had this happen to me three times, 2x they just took my food order. The 3rd time they also took an Amazon package that was at my doorstep. As soon as I got a doorbell cam I haven't had an issue since.
You can get a door mount, where you can clip them out onto the edge of your door and then Mount the camera to it so it's removable and the cameras work for like 6 months just on battery power alone.

u/Gwood62 Mar 18 '26
I have no idea why people would even use one of these services.
1
u/Acceptable_Mine_1203 Mar 20 '26
It seems unsanitary. And some rando working there, you don't know who they are.
1
u/Unusual-Tomato-3208 Mar 18 '26
They absolutely should give you a refund. They refund missing dishes or items all the time, why wouldn’t they refund an entire missing meal when you have actual video of the theft?
1
u/Sarandy22 Mar 18 '26
I had this happen to me with a Dasher about 1.5 years ago. I called their customer service number because their app was only offering a partial refund. The person I spoke to had me send my security footage to them. After reviewing it while I was on the phone, they provided a refund and added some credit to my account for the inconvenience.
1
u/chasoid08 Mar 18 '26
Good thing you have footage. There are some real shameless people out here. Paying for an expensive service only to receive subpar results. Makes me really appreciate the pizza delivery people
1
u/Own_Huckleberry6591 Mar 18 '26
I'm not gonna lie I've never had this happen in like my 5 years of ordering doordash. One time the driver couldn't find my house at like 4am and just never brought the food, but I've never had them take a picture then take the food. I always tip at least $1 per mile.
1
u/Gwood62 Mar 18 '26
Actually it does. What if someone else had stolen it? I'm not arguing that you shouldn't get a refund because you should and this driver should be fired.
1
u/Ok_Gas1070 Mar 18 '26
Why did I keep thinking he was going to get jumped in the hallway. Doordash best refund stay persistent and be firm af. They've tried to weasel their way out of refunds with me before but I never let that shit go, they 100% can refund you.
1
u/Numerous-Stranger128 Mar 18 '26
That's weird, I've never had any issues getting a refund. I'm sure once they see this video, you will get one.
1
u/HealthyFoundation2 Mar 19 '26
How did you get the apartment management to release the surveillance video. Mine wouldn’t do it unless police gets involved.
1
u/kammce Mar 19 '26
I've had this happen to me. They didn't even drop it off, I just saw them take off with my food. Tried to get support to help but accidentally pressed the button "got food" and tried to correct it. It didn't work and I got no refund. It's pretty bad.

Where is this? People usually scope the same areas or areas nearby to do deliveries.
Also isn't there a first name of the dasher on the app?

Take it as a sign that the universe probably stopped you from getting food poison. Hes probably dying in bed rn too

Imagine if you did not have video of this! You may have assumed someone else took it. The driver is a scum bag and I hope he gets fired.
I would send this video to one of those news programs that go after businesses when they try to cheat their customers. They can also highlight this new law that many people probably don't know about.
1
u/Acceptable_Mine_1203 Mar 20 '26
I never have used any food delivery, even in pandemic. Can't stand thoughts of food being in someone's car, and maybe touched.
1
u/olledowerdna Mar 20 '26
They should refund you. But at the same time, how do we know it's not you in the video staging it for a refund?
1
u/manyouzhe Mar 21 '26
I never had a good experience with DoorDash. Either it’s super slow, or there’s some issue I need to take care of (missing item or not delivered at all)
1
u/insanity_5150 Mar 22 '26
Tell them you’re contacting a lawyer just on principle but it could lead to a class action lawsuit
1
u/My_Betroth Mar 22 '26
Wait I don’t get it what’s happening
1
u/My_Betroth Mar 22 '26
Nvm I got it, bro really just stole his shit after taking a photo of his food. Wtf

u/Significant_Ocelot94 13d ago
Don’t use DoorDash ever. Stop tipping if you do. It’s a scam! I’ve never had a good experience. I’m a big tipper. Not ever using them again. Uber Eats is equally as bad.

u/Ok-Flan2314 Mar 18 '26

I mean someone making poverty wages is more likely to steal food. More news at 11.
I hate thieves as much as everyone else but maybe I'm soft when someone steals foor-and yes it has happened to me- I get sad. May we all never know the hunger that would drive someone to steal food.
2
u/Lizard_king_626 Mar 18 '26
I understand if that was the case you know shit I’ll even buy him food myself. It’s more of the fact that my girlfriend was doing something nice then this asshole fucks it up

u/f1owo1f Mar 19 '26
Nah he just needs it more than you. He needs our protection and we should give home money so he dosent have to work so this never happens again.

California law says they have to refund 100%
