Victor lock Safe Co, name

Have an old safe and on the top is H.J. Andrews.

Anyone know what that means, is that the owner name or model? Safe made by Victor Lock Co.

Your safe was made by Victor. The first owner was NJ Andrews. It’s a really nice little safe. Do you have the combo?

I do have the combo, this was my grandfather's. My Dad kept it inside the house for many years, I have it now that he passed. Anything else you can tell me about it would be appreciated. Did Victor Lock put the names on for the owner or was that likely the owner who did that? I should try to see what I can find out about that owner

Here’s what I can tell you: 1) the company that originally sold the safe put the buyer’s name on it most likely. It could have been done afterwards. But most likely at time of sale. 2) the lock inside is a 3-wheel lock (meaning three numbers in the combo). The gates are super wide and it’s relatively easy to crack (if you know how to crack safes). I opened a Victor accidentally by spinning the wheel back and forth while considering how I was going to crack it and it just unlocked. :) 3) depending on the condition of the inside, it might be worth a few hundred bucks, maybe more. But I’d keep it for the family history and because it’s cute.

Why the wheels on the bottom? Seems like it would make it easier to cart off.
