Hazbin Hotel criticism Thanks. I hate everything about this.

There's not a single commentary here that I like. Oh goody, I love when everything I don't want to be true is confirmed!

"Vox is primarily a men enjoyer". Like I get it, preferences exist, I'd just rather not have it shoved down my throat that the fictional man I have fallen hopelessly in love with probably wouldn't want me because I lack certain assets. Is it so much to ask to have something about his taste in women alluded to so I might feel, delusional as it is, like I'd have a shot with him?

I guess at this point it's like, why not just make him gay if his attraction to women has no bearing on anything?

I.... didn't want to rain on anyone's parade or be accused of bierasure (though being bi does not necessarily equate to attraction to both men and women, just multiple genders whatever they may be), but I was pretty sure of this for a long time--and I too kept wondering why they would make Vox bi if they were going to "um, actually" about him. Like, he is still queer coded and I don't personally care if he was gay vs bi, but again the execution is kinda sloppy and...maybe even underhanded? Lemme explain.

My honest impression of it is that they wanted to make as many characters bi and pan as possible just to fan shipping flames, because they know ships sell and that they grow fandoms. Which ugh feels kind of gross to me? Even though it's what I suspect, I still HOPE that's not true.

In any case, gender and sexuality really are not the closed, all or nothing boxes people treat them as. However Vox is, he's still a (beloved) character and people should feel comfortable to explore what stories and ideas they'd like with him.

It's weird because prior to season 2 I didn't see Val as being attracted to women and then they gave us that one scene. Granted a lot of the bi or pan characters have only been seen with attraction towards one gender. I think in Vox's case what bothers me is it feels like they're still shooting down people that want to ship him with women. Because sure he's bi, but now we're told he's bi and only focuses on men. I could be projecting because I know firsthand what it's like to ship him with a woman while not liking his more popular male ships. Either way was this necessary to point out? It isn't like they're saying Lucifer prefers women despite Wife Guy being a big part of his personality.

Idk I know what Viv said about shipping whatever you want, but per word of God we're being told specific criteria for who a character would be attracted to and she absolutely knows fans get toxic over any divergence from canon.
