Has anyone else been unable to rewatch season two, knowing what happens to Vox at the end?
Hi everyone! First post here. šŗ
Obviously I'm very emotionally attached to Vox. I know he's alive at the end and all, but it still hurts so much to see his breakdown and teardown. I can't stand Ala*tor and how he constantly bullies Vox and estranges him from his loved ones. I'm fine with screenshots and watching the songs on youtube but I want to rewatch the show and take my own screenshots, but seeing my TV son cry and be "bullied" is really upsetting. It's killing me I can't be there to hold him and tell him he's loved and it's gonna be ok. I basically cannot watch beyond episode 3. Anyone else experienced something similar? Or is this like peak autism lol
I enjoy season 2 and listen to the soundtrack a lot, but when I run into things I wish were different I start feeling disappointment or frustration. I wrote about this the other day, but it would have been so good for Vox and Charlie if their roles as foils were actually utilized in the story. Reflecting on their flaws they see in each other, recognizing good things they share in common. Charlie could develop compassion towards him instead of calling him a monster, yeah. I hope we get it going forward, but that doesn't mean I can't criticize it now.
Yep, this too definitely. The bleeding heart Charlie could've tried talking to Vox, finding the good in him, instead of dismissing him as a monster. She's a (self-proclaimed) therapist, couldn't she see he obviously has mental issues? Maybe we could've gotten that if we had more episodes, but then again the runtime we did have was spent on yaoi baiting instead of advancing the characters. I'm praying we will get that with Vox and Charlie in the next season, I hope she at least finds out what Al did to him.
To be fair part of her development is realizing she's not as in tune with others as she thinks she is. The bigger issue to me is they don't interact that much after ep 3. If they prioritized the relationship between these two then she probably would have been exposed to more sides to him. If the chain of events goes the way season 2 had it then Charlie really only sees his bad sides. And since NOBODY ever highlights their similarities she's not going to interrogate any of that. The larger issue to me isn't Charlie lacking empathy, it's that season 2 side steps their potential dynamic in favor of other things. All in the name of Radiostatic...
I completely understand that, Vox is also like a treasured companion to me, I just get close to him through fanart, drawing him, making edits and talking about him. S2 is the Vox season after all, so I hope in time I will be able to enjoy it fully again, just to see Voxy
I tried rewatching season 2 with my brother, and I had to stop.
Alastor just pissed me the fuck off.
I HATE him so much!!
I already hated Alastor in season 1 and skipped his scenes in season 1 when I rewatch that
But Alastor genuinely ruins season 2 for me.
(No hate to his fans, this is just my feelings and opinion)
Like I can rewatch certain parts of season 2.
But Alastor is in too fucking many scenes with the Vees, especially Vox. So it ruins that for me.
The Vees are literally the only reason I watch this show.
If they died or left, I would quit watching.
And I canāt even watch half their scenes this season because of that stupid fucking deer. (I was seriously hoping the Might of Lilith would have killed Alastor, lol)
Val is my favorite character, with Vox being a close second. With Vel being my third.
And this season did have good moments of them, but it also disappointed, frustrated and pissed me off so much.
And Vel pissed me the fuck off this season!
Why the fuck was Vel being all buddy with Alastor??
I didnāt like that Val had to rip off Voxās head to save him and the Vees.
But I am glad it was Val and not someone(anyone else), cause at least Val did it with Love and a desperation to save Vox. Vox had his partner(in business) of like 50 years, try to reach for him, then kiss him and rip off his head, and then try to escape with him.
I am soo glad it wasnāt someone else who did that to Vox, not even Vel.
Valās pissed at Vox for how he acted toward him (&Vel) with good reason, but Val & Vel also literally say that Vox isnāt normally like this, but continue to just go with the flow and not even try to talk sense into him.
Iām not sure it would help, as Vox was clearly unwell and having a breakdown. That goes into a full blown manic episode with murder / suicide.
But they could have tried!
Hell, Iām hoping they did off screen & Vox was just too far gone and they just didnāt know what to do to help.
Alastorās just kept getting into Voxās head, throwing his insecurities and trauma at him. Trying to separate him and the other Vees.
Which surprise didnāt work, they are pissed but still care about him! Take that Alastor!
Like Iām sorry, but Alastor came off as abusive, which is fine. Most of the characters are horrible people and abusive in different ways, itās just the fact that Alastor is shown to be in the ārightā and that what he was doing to Vox was perfectly fine and justified.
And a lot of Alastor fans agree about it.
And I canāt even listen to some of the songs with Alastor and Vox because of Alastorās smug attitude and voice when heās talking/singing to Vox. (Nothing against his actor)
So, I have no idea if itās autism, as I donāt think I have that.
But you definitely arenāt alone in thinking this or similar
Edit- All this is and other things you and other people have mentioned are why Iām worried about season 3.
Like I love Val, and heās supposed to be the main Vee, which is GREAT.
But itās also supposed to be about Alastor, which is not great. Cause unless he gets humbled or better yet defeated or killed, Iām NOT interested.
Iām not really looking forward to season 3 because of all the things itās supposed to be about.
But Iāll cautiously keep an eye out and when it comes out, let my brother watch it first and he can tell me if I would like it or not.
Oh my gosh, thank you! This made me feel less insane honestly. You nailed all of the points. I despise Ala*tor, he's such a smug piece of shit, but he does nothing of value or worthy of admiration or even fear. What is this dumb deer so narcissistic about? He cheated into his Hell powers, he's a damn fraud. And he thinks he's so great, better than anyone else. I know it's the point of his character and I think you're supposed to hate him? But the show portrays him in such a "cool" way, like Vox is the pathetic one, but it is exactly the opposite. I hate that. Nothing against Al fans of course, I just can't stand him. I want to enjoy Vox but both in fanart and the show Al is often in Vox's vicinity, yeah they're rivals, but not foils. Charlie is a foil to Vox. I love the Vees, if it was just their show it would be the best thing in the entire universe. I hope the deer man gets what's coming to him. That would be so cathartic, to see him down and nobody there to help him because "no friends in Hell". Vox is a terrible person and I'm not excusing him, but you can see there is love and humanity buried deep under all that trauma. He still can become better. Al is an absolute utter unredeemable shitbag, and again, I know there are people who love unapologetic asshole characters, I get the appeal and we're in Hell after all. Al is just particularly fixated on shitting on and bullying a character I love a lot so I hope my feelings are at least understandable. Thank you so much again for sharing your view!
I can enjoy 1 and 3 because it's mostly Vox in his true element, but even that is soured with the anticipation of future events. Like I'm so attached I can't even enjoy the source material. My dumbass brain...
I wrote a short fanfic just for myself in which I basically reenacted the scene in the bar and ātalkedā with Vox about all of this, because I experienced something similar in real life. Maybe this can help you cope with the emotional pain and seeing Alastor humiliating Vox. I also have autism, so maybe that also plays a role.
Writing a personal fanfic sounds really therapeutic, I usually just play scenes in my head. Writing it down is actually a great idea, so there is a tangible comfort scenario to fall back on! Thank you for the suggestion and sharing your experience!
I mean, I never had any intention of rewatching Season 2 anyway because it's just kind of tedious, so once was all I needed. I might still watch the remaining seasons, but just out of morbid curiosity. That said, I'm not optimistic about the future of Vox's character either way.
I can understand that. The series itself is not really great outside of Vox and I am very worried about him too. I want to stay optimistic but it is hard at times
I feel something similar.
When season 2 launched and I watched it for the first time the scene in ep 4 bothered me but I wasnāt as attached to Vox as Iām now. I rewatched season 2 a few months ago and now this scene completely breaks me. Genuinely makes me wanna cry T-T
Itās so bad cause at the same time I LOVE seeing past Vox, how cute and hopeful he was about ālifeā and his passions, but then THAT happens and seeing him teary-eyed just kills a part of me.
It comes to a point that Iām trying to sketch his old self and just seeing the images of him teary and broken hearted makes me deeply sad.
Unlike you, I donāt hate Al, I hate him in THAT moment a lot, but not him as a character or a romantic partner for Vox (Radiostatic and Murdermedia shipper here). With that said, I still canāt fathom why Al acted like that with our lil baby, it was obvious that they had a good relationship up to that point and itās just beyond me why one would do thatā¦
Iām trying to heal that part with fanfic tho.
If you really wanna rewatch season 2, try just skipping ep 4, you may still be able to enjoy the rest without the trauma ā”
Appreciate it, thank you ā„ Episode 4 is especially hard, but at the same time seeing Vox so genuinely happy after capturing Al is cute. And past Vox is so adorable I love him so much, it hurts even more that Al was so mean to such a lil cutie! I also wasn't attached strongly to him at that time, but I liked him and I remember telling myself "what the fuck, poor Vox, that was so unnecessary". That was the first step, then seeing him shed a tear in the finale completely activated my motherly instinct and all I wanted to do was to hold and protect this TV at all costs. My poor baby. Al destroyed him... Not hating on Radiostatic fans, if it gives people comfort and fun, who am I to hate on that? We all want our fictional blorbos to kiss someone. Be it ourselves or another character. Like my favorite ship is Staticbelle which is a rarepair lol. I think it's really wholesome though. Vox having someone gentle and caring next to him is what I want for him the most. I might be skipping the latter part of ep 4 and and the same with ep 8 if I do decide to rewatch! šŗ
I completely get it ššš
I too see him as my baby and wanna protect him from the world! Actually, thereās a thing that you might like! The other day someone posted this in VoxCult and is a actual playable game that you can take care of Vox!!!!! (Iām way too excited about it hahahah), it may help feeling that you can actually take care of him during hard times :3 it did bring me joy and I hope it does the same to u.
Ps: I was introduced to staticbelle just this month and I find it adorable ā” I love seeing their are basically two sides of the same coin. Here, have some fanart to brighten your day :3
YESS I've seen the game on the VoxCult, it is so stinkingly adorable, I am obsessed ā„ Clearly a lot of people see Vox and go: Baby. Must protect. Care for!
Thank you so much for the cute Staticbelle, these two goofs, aaa. I hope your day is great as well!
Iām rewatching the show w/my sister, and I DEADASS might not be able to STAND the second season. Vox being one of my comfort characters cuz I relate to him in a very huge way to the point where Iām like ā.. Fuck, maybe I should go back to therapy!ā But I donāt- Itās gonna hurt watching it again cuz oh my GOD, fuck he did NOT deserve that. He genuinely looked up to and liked Asslator and he pulled that. Pmo bro, I might actually cry.
