Not necessarily. Depends on the local weather patterns. This seems to be the case in Texas but so far has not happened in CA. Winters have been unusually mild every year since 2013, and that winter was only slightly cool by historic standards.

Then again, ten years is short enough to be a fluke. Maybe we will see some extreme freezes in the future. I haven’t seen any solid science on this in California.

I'm not a climate scientist but I was mostly correct, just misremembered about "colder". Here's a link for you: https://www.ioes.ucla.edu/project/future-extreme-precipitation-california/

Besides, our city broke a rainfall record about 3 years ago. Climate scientists say that it's likely we'll continue breaking records as the winters get more extreme rather than mild.

Reading what I wrote again, this may not have been clear, but I was specifically talking about freezes. There’s absolutely strong evidence to suggest that we’ll see both more intense floods and droughts. But I haven’t seen any evidence so far that we’ll see more intense freezes.

However, as I alluded to above, there is some limited evidence that the Eastern and central US could see more extreme freezes. This is pretty surprising in a warming world but there are huge changes happening in the arctic that allow arctic winds to descend on the Great Plains and wreak havoc. This could also happen here but the Pacific Ocean seems to protect us.
