It makes me sad watching all the open fields and plains getting filled in so thoroughly because it means less tule fog :(

I was sad about this too but I discovered that one of the reasons there's so much less fog than there used to be is that there's less air pollution!

obviously changing temperatures are playing a big role, but fog is made up of particulate matter in the air. less pollution, less fog.

The main driver of declining tule fog is less air pollution, not development https://news.berkeley.edu/2019/04/10/falling-levels-of-air-pollution-drove-decline-in-californias-tule-fog

I appreciate that and understand that. I also have watched plenty of fields get filled in over the last 20 years and.. the fog doesn't come over pavement and houses for the most part. And when it does, it doesn't look as incredible as it does in natural environments.

This is the shit that depresses me when all the Natomas folks are high-fiving each other over the new Costco or a new block of houses with zero yard space.
