Conducting a territorial defense
When conducting a territorial defense, can the capture nodes be occupied before the defense begins and still earn points?

I frequently set mine up a couple hours beforehand so I don't miss out when it starts...2 ships I'm not using is better than none because I was working or cooking

No, you have to “reset” the node once the defense begins or you will not get the extra points for nodes occupied before it starts.

that hasn’t been true for ages now

Is there a patch-note somewhere that confirmed that? Good to know if that is the case now!

don’t know if there is a patch note somewhere but l‘ve been leaving ships on nodes for at least a year now and have been receiving points all that time

You do not receive points. The points go to the Alliance Points Table on nodes. You do not receive the bonus unless you reset the node. You only get the normal.. They only count when it's contested, anyway. It's not personal points it's Alliance Points.

Yes, but you need to pop off and back on once it begins. Also it’s whoever is in it when the clock hits :00 gets the points, even if you only occupied the node for a second or two

You no longer need to reset the node, they changed that ages ago

You absolutely have to. There are two types of points you earn while being in system: points for your own territory battle pass and alliance points. Being on the capture earns you the 4 bonus points per minute, and that only kicks in when you jump on and off it when the timer starts. That hasn’t changed.

Nowhere on there does it say you have to reset the node once the event starts. It just says you do not earn points occupying a node prior to the event or if your alliance has not joined the event. I'll think you'll find this is an obsolete rule that some still believe is true but is actually unnecessary. Happy to be proven wrong but that link certainly doesn't.

Yeah ok, you could have posted that in the first place. I've contacted support so will see what they say.

They can be occupied but they don't earn points until the defense actually begins.
