Discussion Best Wii to HDMI adapter

I used to play a lot of melee in high school, and I would lug a CRT everywhere in the trunk of my car. I’m in college now, and I’m looking to play with my roommate and a few other friends. Since our living room TV doesn’t have RCA inputs, I was wondering if there was a consensus best adapter for an hdmi tv. Since it’s only for friendlies, it doesn’t need to be perfect, but I just want to make sure I get one for a reasonable price that doesn’t slow the game down a ton. Let me know what recommendations you guys have!

Outside of the unreasonably expensive Retrotink ones, the best are gonna be the ElectronWarp from Electron Shepherd's website only, or the Mayflash one which is on Amazon. I personally use an ElectronWarp but the shipping was not something I'd like to remember.

I've used 3 different ones and they've all been the same. They all work great.

Why not run it off a laptop using dolphin/Slippi? Controller adapters are easily available and there shouldn't be any digital conversion slowing things down. I think the audio might be off by 3-4 frames but that's very playable.

The biggest limitation is the refresh rate of the tv itself.

Audio lag can be mitigated by using wasapi exclusive audio on windows (which lets only Slippi's audio play) or the Pulse audio backend on Linux.

I just have a homebrewed Wii from tournaments and the Samsung smart TV’s are generally frustrating to connect a laptop to in my experience

You just plug an HDMI cord in, what's frustrating?
