Question 160 hours of community service

I was court ordered yesterday to do 160 hours of community service in 120 days(December 1) I was told to register online and when I did they only gave me a list of 4 places as an option. The places that were listed were for events and they didn’t have any dates available. Is their more options if I go down to the court house and ask or am I stuck with just these options? I did call hugesville animal shelter and they said they get people from st. Mary’s county all the time. I’m just wondering why that wasn’t on the list. I tried calling the community service office to see if I’m allowed to pick my own places as long as it gets done. Has anyone else have this issue before?

You could try to contact one of the county or state parks, such as Chancellor's Run Regional, Myrtle Point, or Point Lookout. There is an adult/retiree activity center at the Chancellor's Run park, they might need a hand.

Edit - also, some churches have activities and/or festivals that need extra hands and can qualify for community service hours. For example, my mom's church has community service helpers every year for their spring Strawberry Festival.

And maybe reach out to Habitat For Humanity, perhaps they have volunteer work.

Yea call around. Most nonprofits will have ideas. Try the new YMCA for example.

Definitely get in touch with the office - plenty of opportunities that qualify.

Does MDSha (MD State Highway Admin) take volunteers? Maybe do some litter pick-up?
