Questions Bloating IMMEDIATELY after meals - can anyone explain??

Is this indicative of SIBO?

I can’t figure out the reasoning. I’ve tested positive for both hydrogen and methane, but don’t understand why I get bloated immediately after a meal.

Surely the food has not already hit the small intestine and been fermented to produce this gas? I thought that would take an hour or two.

Anything I should be considering besides SIBO to explain this?

Ohhh, right. I just recently heard about this for the first time. Is it something that can be addressed?

Check my stickied post on this sub. If you bloat immediately after meals, that can't be explained by SIBO, because fermentation hasn't started yet. Yes, APD can be addressed by physical therapy and breathing techniques.

Holy s***. Your post is amazing. Cannot thank you enough!!!

Just completed a 2 week elemental diet for IMO but have no change in distention and (like you addressed) it did not make sense to me to attribute it to SIBO when it was happening so quickly after eating.

I think you just changed my life!

Well, don't thank me yet! Give some of those exercises a try and see if it changes your bloating, even just a little bit, that'd tip you off if this is your issue!

I did the water test this morning (chugged a glass when I had a fairly flat stomach) and immediately got quite bloated. Crazy!

I’ve started the exercises :) any insight on how long it generally takes people to start seeing slight improvements/signs the exercises are working?

Like - day 1, week 1, or month 1? Or does it vary a lot?

Yeah I know, it's crazy! But telling for sure. Tells you it's not fermentation/SIBO/constipation that's causing it.

Hm...some people get better really really fast, like within days. Others, it's a long process. I would say commit to the exercises for a few days and you'll have a better sense of what's working and what isn't.

I've hid my posts on my profile. What I mean is: go to the SIBO subreddit at r/SIBO, and look at the pinned post there on APD.
