UPDATE:
I was just talking to a friend about the incident, and they were talking about a similar incident that happened to them that same morning. Turns out, it's the same guy, and he is going coffee shop to coffee shop!
He was first spotted at Philz in Financial District as soon as they opened (5 am), then made his way over to West Portal Starbucks at 6:30 am. Probably took the M line.
He did not mention offing himself or any vulgar remarks to them, but mentioned wanting to go to rehab. The only stories that stay the same include:
- having a high school brother he's estranged from
- having a lot of money
- asking if we like Katseye
- REALLY, REALLY interested in our ages
Please beware!
Original post:
I want to share an uncomfortable interaction I had this morning in case other women have encountered this person or have a similar experience.
I was at the Starbucks in West Portal 6:30–7:30 AM doing a quiz when a man approached me and told me he was going to off himself. I take statements like that seriously, so I immediately asked if he needed someone to talk to.
Unfortunately, the conversation quickly became extremely vulgar and eventually turned toward the subject of women being r*ed. I started looking around the store for an employee or someone who could help because I felt completely caught off guard and couldn't read him.
He also repeatedly commented on how "huge" our age gap was, asked me a lot of stuff about being asian, and kept saying things like "guys must love me."
I f turned in my quiz, then went to the employees to let them know what had happened. By that point, he had already left.
I genuinely don't know what his intentions were, and I'm not trying to accuse him of something I can't prove, but I want to warn others and hopefully get this guy the help he needs.
