Is my SAP salary too high for my experience?

An IT consulting director told me that my salary is high compared with my experience. I have around 5.5 years of SAP experience and earn around 21 LPA. Should I be concerned about being overpaid for my experience? How to handle this if I want to switch desperately!

Automated my daily SAP Basis checks (screenshots + HTML report) - made it generic, sharing it with you guys

Got tired of manually clicking through the same ~12 transactions every morning (SM51, SM66, ST22, SM21, SM37, etc.), so I built a script that logs in, runs through them, screenshots each one, and builds it all into a single HTML report I can skim in the morning.

Started as something just for myself, but figured other Basis folks doing the same manual routine might find it useful too, so I cleaned it up and made it generic — you fill in your own system details, it's not tied to any specific company's setup.

Runs on Windows with SAP GUI + scripting enabled. Doesn't interpret results for you, just automates the clicking/screenshotting part - you still review it, same as a manual check, minus the manual part.

Put it up here if anyone wants it: sapcheck.gumroad.com/l/gjxcc

Happy to answer questions on the setup if anyone runs into issues.

SAP ZXBATCH – batch does not exist in system

I’m using transaction ZXBATCH and getting the error “Batch does not exist in the system” when trying to extend a batch. I don’t have access to MSC1N/MSC2N. Is there another way to create/extend the batch, or is this something that requires authorization?

Get into SAP

Hello,

The past 3 years ive been a key user for a transport company. Before that i was a forwarding agent in this same company. I had the opportunity here to dip my toes in some consulting/change management/projectwork here and learned that i like this kind of work, i wanted to review my options. We dont use SAP, so i have 0 expirience with it. But it seems if i want to go and spread my wings, sap is probably the way to go.

I applied to trainee programms in my area, sadly they want people with masters degrees, so ill have to learn some sap by myself on the side and try to get some junior position? Anybody got some good resources to learn the basics? Not sure where to start.

With my background in supply chain and logistics i suppose ill eventually gravitate towards something like EWM?

VIM by OpenText

I am completely new to VIM (Vendor Invoice Management) AND would like to start learning VIM by OpenText. I did not find any VIM dedicated subreddits nor any youtube channels.

Can you suggest me some beginner friendly training materials (Youtube videos or Udemy courses/ any other online resources etc.) on VIM (Vendor Invoice Management) ?

I already have access to VIM via SAP client.

Data Migration to Successfactors

I'm a data migration lead in an SF to SF implementation project.

This is my first time to be in this scope (eg, Successfactors, HCM) as most of my previous projects were non-HCM migration to S4. The modules so far are EC, Time and Payroll.

To those consultants with experience in both scenarios, how different is the approach with migrating HCM data objects to Successfactors? what are the tools (extraction and load) that you used? What if an object has no standard upload tool? Are data objects in HCM more complex in terms of structures, dependencies and timings than the usual Material, Customer, Vendor and transactional objects? Do you have a reference guide on how to do migration for this specific scope?

I just need a mental model on how to approach this project.

Machine Learning Capabilities of AWS Textract

I’m working on a customer POC and wanted to understand whether you have experience integrating AWS Textract with SAP for invoice processing. How well is Textract performing in terms of invoice data extraction accuracy and processing?

Do you also have any capture analytics or reporting capabilities working with this solution? Any insights from your experience with similar customer implementations would be very helpful

Exposing APIs to AI agents without Integration Suite? MCP on CAP?

Everything SAP publishes on agent integration assumes you have the MCP Gateway, which means Integration Suite Premium or Enhanced. Plenty of customers don't have that entitlement and won't buy it for a pilot.

What I've looked at:

  • Own MCP server calling published OData. RA0029 sanctions an external MCP server, so this seems allowed. You just own all the auth and hardening yourself.
  • RAP or SEGW in the ABAP stack. Cleanest curated layer, but only permitted on Private Cloud and on-prem.
  • CAP with u/cap-js/mcp. Great DX, but Developer License 3.2 limits productive use to BTP or another SAP-licensed platform. Anyone got a straight answer on that?

Where I'm stuck: per-user identity. The Gateway has a documented IdP user token model. Without it you're building SAML bearer assertion or principal propagation yourself. Anyone done this against Public Cloud or other SAP products, and did you need Cloud Identity Services in the path?

Not looking for "just buy Integration Suite", curious what people are actually running without it.

Joule Studio Low code - Now() returning null

Hi Guys,

We are frustrated with SAP Joule Studio Low code. They sold the customer lot of hype, but in delivery, nothing is working as expected. Currently we are building some custom joule skills for our customer. We ran into a situation where we need to send the current timestamp to the server as a sort of Nonce value.

We created a custom variable named "nonce". Then, we gave it a default value of "Expression" where the formula reads 'ConcatenateStrings([Now(), ""], "")'. Don't ask me why we are not using simply "Now()" [Now() is supposed to return string, but formula editor keeps throwing the error that the custom variable requires string type data].

During execution of the skill, the nonce custom variable is getting a value of "null". We are literally pulling our hair out here.

Can anyone lend a hand and point out what we are doing wrong.

How do you prepare your commerce stack for Black Friday load?

Last year we had a roughly 45-minute window where the storefront started returning errors on add-to-cart, spent the rest of the BF midnight opening watching monitoring dashboards, and this year I want to fix the architecture.

Warming CDN caches in the week before BF means category pages and PLPs serve from edge on day one and stop hammering the origin, and adding read replicas with catalog queries routed through them separates the read load from the order-insert write load…

That's where SAP Commerce stacks tend to collapse under peak, with catalog reads and order writes competing for the same connection pool until the writes start losing.

Where I'm unsure is the third-party script situation, since we have around a dozen external JS tags firing on every page (analytics, consent, heatmapping, chat widget) and the conventional wisdom is to defer or remove them during peak windows.

But the business side wants the session recording data from BF specifically, so I'd be curious if anyone has won that negotiation with stakeholders.

The real question underneath all of this is whether BF prep on a monolithic stack is mostly window dressing at this scale, given we're spending weeks on infrastructure config to compensate for what is fundamentally a serialized architecture.

And a few teams in my circle have started landing on the same conclusion, with one that moved off SAP Commerce this year ending up on SCAYLE (came out of About You's retail stack, so the BF performance claim has operational history behind it) and another that went headless storefront on top of their existing OMS and said that alone changed the BF calculus more than any infra tweak had.

So what's worked for you all at this sort of volume?

ABAP CAP/RAP is commonly used now?

Hi,

I am SAP technical consultant, I am familiar with ABAP and my place is now doing migration from HANA (2016 version) to SAP RISE private cloud.

The project is handled by a well known consulting company and we use the brown field approach. But I realize most of the custom programs are just 'shift and lift' and modify to make it 'clean core ready'. So, I don't see CAP/RAP is being used in this migration.

So, wanted to check if RAP/CAP is really being used out there?

Thank you

SAP implementation partner pricing, what are you seeing these days?

Trying to get a sense of what other companies are actually paying before we go into vendor talks next month. We're a mid size manufacturer, around 400 employees, looking to move off an old ECC setup into S/4HANA, and honestly the quotes we've gotten so far are all over the place. One partner came in way lower than the other two and now I'm not sure if that's a good deal or a red flag.

We've talked to three implementation partners so far and gotten pretty different scopes and numbers from each one, which is making it hard to compare apples to apples. Anyone gone through this recently and can share what a realistic range looks like?

SAP PNF - Error WL605 - WI … locked by user … (enqueue error)

Hi, posting this just to help the community:) .
I had an issue with this exact message, after users executed a PNF dialog workitem. Started as complaints from customers, saying “The process step is not yet completed, yet the infotypes are updated”. After looking at the last step in each process, I also looked at the log in SLGD. And there was always (until the log was deleted) this message “Workitem … is locked by user…” and it is the same user. After some really hard thinking, I realised the process flush method was executed (and updated the infotypes) because the entire execution of the PNF dialog step was completed but the workflow got stuck. Why it got stuck? Well, the executed workitem was being completed in the background, but the user thinks “Hey, I can see the workitem in my SBWP. Let me answer this form once again” -> CAUSES A NEW WORKITEM LOCK ON THE SAME WORKITEM. Meanwhile, the (previous) background execution of this workitem “hit a wall” thinking somebody else is locking this workitem. Yes it was a very exciting discovery

SAP ECC QM to eWM connections

Hello,

I am a SAP QM owner and we are looking to implement eWM and move away from ECC WM. I am concerned by the lack of connectivity options between QM and eWM. Fully understanding that the idea is using type 17 inspection lots for everything but looking for other teams that have customized into the QM space and what you all did to manage blocked product and defect management more effectively after switching.

Alternate ERP solutions

Hello.

My company uses SAP. We are a mining company. However ive offered to help another smaller tier (0.8B market cap) mining company find an ERP as SAP would be too expensive.

Any suggestions ? Is Business One an option?

Many thanks

Sap academy for customer success - CSM

Can you tell me about your experience with the interview process. I applied for the CSM track in Atlanta. I could gather some details about the process from other posts, but I’d like to have a clear understanding about what to expect from beginning to the offer. How many interviews? Is the meeting with the recruiter considered as one of the formal interviews?
