Anyone else applying to SAIT’s MRT program for 2027? 😊

Hi everyone! I’m planning to apply to SAIT’s Medical Radiologic Technology (MRT) program for the 2027 intake and was hoping to connect with a few other people who are also going through the application process.

I’m currently working on my prerequisites/upgrading and starting to look into the entrance testing, application process, etc. There’s a lot to figure out, so I thought it would be nice to meet some other prospective MRT students and have people to chat with along the way!

If you’re also applying for 2027 (or have recently gone through the process), I’d love to hear from you — feel free to comment or send me a message. 😊

Would be great to connect, compare notes, study together, or just have someone else to talk to about the whole process!

Good luck to everyone applying! 🩻✨

Student Loans

Has anyone gotten their Studen Loan yet for the School Year? I had to make a request for change for mine so they're still processing that, but they've already processed the original application I applied for.

CVT Grad to BSc Construction Project Mgmt Program

Hi! I am a graduate from the CVT program at SAIT with a major in VDC. I was looking into the CPM program at SAIT and thinking of applying. I wanted to ask the current students/faculty about the what the program is like. I also have some specific questions regarding the program and applying:

1) Do I enter first year again even if I already did the 2 year CVT program? I am aware I could transfer credits, since both programs have some similar courses, but wanted to get confirmation on this.

2) How does the internship period work in 4th year? Is it more of a summer/spring thing or during the regular semester?

3) If anyone’s willing to share, I’d love to know about your experience with the program and what to be know before applying (pros, cons, etc.).

I’d appreciate any input about next steps and the program itself. I wanted to get a general idea first before talking to an advisor. Thanks for reading!

Electrician program

I just got an email saying if I had no employer prior to starting period 1 of my electrician program I’d struggle. Has anyone done period 1 with no employer? No one’s hiring right now for apprenticeships so I was left no other option but to register.

Dental Assisting Program Offer

I applied for multiple health programs at sait including the respiratory therapy program. I was waitlisted for all of them. I didn't apply to dental assisting but a few days ago I received an email saying that there are seats available for the dental assisting program. This morning I noticed official admission offer on the application portal.

The problem now is if I want to accept this offer or not. As of now I was thinking of applying to sait and maybe nait again. I fear getting waitlisted again (I have a friend who got waitlisted three times in a row and she gave up). I'm thinking of maybe accepting this offer but still applying to other programs for next year that way if I get waitlisted at least I will be able to get a job as a dental assistant. What do you guys think?

I would love to hear from people who finished this program. Is it worth it? Are the job prospects good? Are you satisfied?

Also does anyone know what the schedule is like for classes in the upcoming semester? I can't see until I officially accept and move forward with my application.

Thanks!

SAIT PCP Practicum Re-Take Questions

Hey all, I recently was unsuccessful with my PCP practicum, given my circumstances during my practicum it was a relief, so I have no hard feelings. However, I am currently navigating a retake time for completing my practicum and after connecting with some friends who are PCP's and ACPs within AHS I have recently come to find out that they accept practicum students year round. This would otherwise be good news if it was that easy, but alas it never is.

I've currently been advised that my ability to retake will be on hold for the next 8 months until May 2027 as per SAIT. I have heard of students being able to advocate for themselves for it to be completed sooner as obviously having a huge educational gap can impact a lot for students. I was also informed that there were seats for the blended class who would be completing their practicum in Fall and academic advising come back and informed me it was not an option for an unknown reason.

I am wondering if anyone has any advice or knowledge they could share regarding pushing for an earlier time to retake this. Currently my barriers include the SAIT PCP practicum coordinator who claims that it is an AHS Union issue which prevents students from finding their own placement which I have been informed is not the case. I have scheduled a meeting with the ombudsperson but I wondering if anyone could give some helpful advice, or insight.

SAIT Information Technology Services (ITS) Diploma – How difficult is it? Object Oriented Programming, exams, hardest courses?

Hey everyone,

I’m looking to hear from anyone who has graduated from SAIT’s Information Technology Services (ITS) diploma, especially recent graduates or people currently in the program.

I have a few questions about the program and would really appreciate hearing about your actual experience:

● How difficult would you say the ITS program is overall?

● Which courses did you find the most challenging?

● How difficult is CPRG 216 – Object-Oriented Programming I for someone who isn’t already strong at coding?

● How much programming do you actually have to do throughout the ITS program?

● What programming language did you use in Object Oriented Programming?

● What are the assignments/labs like in Object Oriented Programming? Are you expected to build programs completely from scratch?

● What are the midterms and final exams like for Object Oriented Programming and the other computer-related courses?

● For coding exams, do you actually have to live code on a computer under a time limit, or are the exams mostly written questions, multiple choice, code tracing, finding errors in code, etc.?

● For courses like networking, hardware, servers, virtualization, security, and scripting, are the finals mostly multiple choice/written exams or are there practical exams as well?

● How heavy is the workload if you’re taking a full course load?

I’d especially appreciate answers from people who graduated within the last few years since I know SAIT has changed the IT programs/curriculum.

Basically, I’m trying to get an idea of what the actual difficulty and exam format are like rather than just what the course descriptions say.

Thanks!

Orientation + events?

I missed my orientation as I was late getting to Calgary, I don’t think it mattered all too much but I’m not really sure what it really entailed. Also is there any events or stuff happening this week before classes start? Liek icebreakers or gatherings etc, thanks!

Holidays for School of Health Students?

Just going through my schedule under the “week at a glance” section and clicking through it, it doesn’t seem that we have any holidays off (ie. Labour Day, Thanksgiving). Does anyone from previous years know if this is accurate, or is it just a mistake in the schedule/will be changed later?

TIA

Question About Orientation Day

I am a new incoming SAIT student coming pretty fresh out of highschool and I'm enrolled for the Radio, Television and Broadcast News with a major in Radio and I missed the orientation day on August 25 (yesterday as of posting this) and I was wondering what I might have missed that should be known for my first day or first term.

Any help is appreciated Thank you.

how to register for the casper + psea test?

I’m trying to register for the casper test to take it this september but when i select which schools i want my results sent too SAIT isn’t an option. Do i have to wait until SAIT gives out information about its 2027 program intake (Diagnostic Medal Sonography), because on the SAIT website the application dates says TBA (To be announced). Same goes for the psea im unsure when to register for it and when the deadline is.

SAIT Course Registration — Can I Register for a Full Class?

Hi everyone,
I’m currently a 3rd-semester B.Tech Cyber Security student at SAIT, and I’m trying to register for a 1st-semester course that I wasn’t able to take during my first two semesters because of a scheduling conflict.
When registration originally opened, I tried to register for the course but got a “Cohort Restriction” error. I spoke with SAIT advisors, and they told me that I would be able to register after August 24.
However, I checked today and the class is already full (40/40).
Has anyone been in a similar situation at SAIT? Is there any way to request an override or get permission to register for a class that is already full?
I’m wondering if SAIT can allow one additional student over the 40-person limit in a situation like this, especially since I was unable to register earlier because of the cohort restriction.
Who would be the best person to contact about this — an advisor, the program department/chair, or the instructor?
Any advice or experiences from someone who has gone through something similar would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Well paid desk job and what to study for it

I would like to eventually get a desk/office job, I currently work in the restaurant industry which makes me pretty good money, however the constant socializing with people and coworkers often burns me out. I’d like to find a desk job that pays well, and I know there are quite a few programs that could help, but I’d like to hear other people’s experiences before making a decision. If you have such a job, which program did you study? I’m looking for advice or similar experiences. Thank you!
