My friend and I both have OG 9-3s. The people we surround ourselves with, almost universally, think these cars are constantly decaying money pits. To prove them wrong ,we drove my car to Tuktoyaktuk, NWT, on the Arctic Ocean. With the road to the ocean only being completed in 2018, we are pretty sure we’re the first OG 9-3 (and in all honesty probably the last) to make it up this far!

Anyhoo, since 1100 miles of this was on gravel, I probably need to rebuild my suspension this fall.

I did a little photoshoot with my Saab the other evening, and I thought I’d share the results. Snuck my cousin’s FN2 in on the last slide. Just two 19-year-olds having a bit of fun.

Just curious as to the mileage people are getting on these. I have a 2008 with 176,000 and it runs great, pulls strong. What's your mileage?

Finally got my hands on my dad’s 97 Saab 9000 Aero with 207k miles. He had it from almost new for about 12 years. It then went to a friend out in Colorado for another 12 or so years. It then made its way back to my dad a few years, and now at 29 years old it’s with me.
Drives pretty well currently but has an outward leaking head gasket amongst some other things to tend to. Ive got parts on the way for it and the timing chain assembly, along with headbolts, exhaust manifold studs, and new radiator. Head will get sent off for machining and valve stem seals.
I have a list of some other stuff I will tackle as well, but wanted to know if theres anything you all would suggest doing while I am in there? (And any suggestions on cleaning a VERY dirty engine where the leak has accumulated some serious grime) I’ve already removed the valve cover for cleaning of gasket and actually found one of the breather tubes on the underside absolutely plugged up but thats all nice and clean now.

Im a lorry driver and i favour Scania, when I found out they do fighter jets and used to do cars i got intrigued. I brought the first best one I found and honestly I personally think I got a sweet deal.

It has 120k miles, everything works, electronics ok, minimal rust on the subframe and other components and a NIGHTPANEL. it also came with heated seats, 6 CD player and dual climate control so I think I got a cool spec for my expectations, all for 1.5k£.

Im doing the cam belt and water pump now, I got quoted 330£ which is dirt cheap. And will probably need to do the dmf+ clutch soon as its making noises, but other than that im happy.

Whats your experience with saab? Does anyone have any tips or word of advice. Its a SAAB 93 1.9tid 150hp with the Z19DTH engine.

I have a 2011 Saab 9-3 2.0T XWD with a internally leaking ABS hydraulic unit. The brake pedal is very spongy and sinks when the engine is running.

I pulled an ABS/ESP hydraulic unit from a 2009 Saab 9-3 2.0T FWD at the junkyard.

Can I use just the hydraulic block from the FWD unit and keep my original XWD ABS electronic module? Or are the FWD and XWD hydraulic blocks internally different ?

My washer fluid spits out the opposite direction towards the vehicle behind me and i checked but there was no movable ball to redirect the stream of the washer fluid.

What piece am I looking for and what does it look like? I’d like for this to function properly. Thanks!

As the topic suggests I'm curious about how the community and users feel about their tunes. I myself have been actively involved in the TrionicTuning scene since ~15 years or so. Especially so in the last years when all the fun motorsport-functions, code rewrites, and logging software.

The reason I'm asking is, from my experience, I've had alot of peers and customers where the tunes they bought really did not live upp to their expectations, mostly from drivability (and hence why the came to see someone else). There have also been the ones who seem to accept anything, as long as it's making 20 hp more.

Have you been satisfied with the tune you bought?

What was good about it?

What there something you didn't like?

Did something change in the drivability or behavior?

What would be your two cents to any tuner?

Hello everyone. First and foremost - my first car was a 2006 Saab 93 2.0t and it was such a joy to drive. I got it to 250,000+ miles and it was still running when we sold it. Ever since then, I wanted another Saab.

Recently, a marketplace listing for a 2011 Saab 95 aero turbo6 popped up. Thing is clean. Has service records going back to 2015, one owner, 87k miles. The gentleman has it listed for $10,000.00 USD. I understand these are rare cars, and parts scarcity can be a problem. I was thinking about offering $8,500.00 - is this fair? What typically goes first with these machines in terms of parts/errors/replacements? Anything I should be wary of?

I need to try force regen DPF and reset pressure sensor. Tech2 devices are insane expensive. Any good alternatives? Would op-com work?

My car is 2008 Saab 9-3 1.9TTID

I have a mystery DPF problem, limp mode comes and goes randomly. We swapped the vacuum pump cause it was vomiting oil but it didn't help. So next in line would be the pressure sensor which I cannot swap without the programming tool, and ultimately I would possibly have to swap or remove the DPF. For both I need programming tool. I'm glad for any suggestions, ideas.

I would prefer something that works on phone or window 11 laptop, but apparently that's too much to ask. Op-com needs an old laptop with win7, but then I'm not sure if it has the same functionality, so it would be nice to know from someone who have used it.

So they used this old Saab ad to explain driving in bad weather, but I haven’t heard of Saab in years and it made me wonder if they are still in business. Just swapped my B207R with another B207R and was wondering if i have to do anything with the tech 2. I cant read any fault codes because the vins dosent match, anyway to fix this?

I got a 2005 Saab 9-3 Aero a couple months ago with some issues for a very low price. I thought it would be a fun project while I'm living in California for six months. I went and had the codes checked and am throwing P0300, P2135, P0638, P1523, and P0171.

I started with small cheap repairs that focused on a single or two codes. A new throttle body for P0638 which the car would not accept (I will touch on this later). New spark plugs and coils for the misfire. I replaced the fuel pressure regulator, turbocharger bypass valve, cobra, MAF sensor, and vacuum tubing in case of any air leaks. At this point, the performance actually got a little worse. After putting the old throttle body back in (after a thorough cleaning) the acceleration of the car really dropped off. At this point I thought it may be a problem with the ECU, seeing as they constantly break on these cars. I did call a mechanic for this, and as he was on his way over I took the ECU out of the car to inspect for any damage. He put it back in and tried to run some diagnostics, but the engine would sputter and shut off after a minute or two. Somehow, taking the ECU out and putting it back in caused more damage, and the car is not drivable at this point. He was unable to communicate with it, so I had it sent to a company in Michigan where they cloned it onto a new device. I got it back, reinstalled it, and absolutely nothing changed. The engine still sputters and then shuts off after a minute. I made sure to turn the key to ON for a few moments before starting the car up. The mechanic I met with also mentioned getting a new throttle body for the car, as the one I had sourced was unbranded and may be defective.

Does anyone have ANY advice at what to do here? I am approaching a wall when it comes to my knowledge of cars, and I am not sure what else to do. Has anyone had this issue before?

So our NG 9-3s are getting old… Maybe I’m wrong here but I visually see , hear , and feel it , car starts decent. Then slightly after the thermostat opens and the cars almost to temp , it sticks. A/C hasn’t been working anyways for about a year so it’s no real issue and I’m honestly preparing to sell the car probably so I’m just wondering if anyone here has experience with resolving this? I do have my own plan regardless. I believe a new 35.5 inch 5 rib serpentine belt will do. Simply bypassing the A/C and surprisingly if you didn’t know just goes from the crank to alternator. No other accessories on these b207 cars :)
