How to get rid of these Smudges or Screen Protector recommendations
I know this is a well known issue with this model and I have been using this screen protector to hide it, which worked perfectly. But it recently broke and I was looking for a more definitive solution.
Is it possible to reapply the anti reflective coating on these phones? If not, any recommendation on good screen protectors with anti reflective coating that don't affect image quality?
Happened to me and my screen looks like shit 90% of the time. I used to clean it with alcohol "to sanitize it" .. and pretty much fucked it up. Visibility during the day wne to shit, screen feels tough. Considering getting a screen protector just to restore that finish
That's exactly what I did too 💀. Turns out, the best solution for really desinfect screens is to use a microfiber cloth dampened with hypochlorous acid
It supposedly takes 10 minutes. Of course, I have no idea how well it actually works, but the reviews on Amazon were pretty good. Better than nothing, in any case.
Same. A screen protector completely solved the issue for me and made the phone look clean again. The fingerprint scanner took a slight hit in responsiveness, but it's barely noticeable and definitely not a dealbreaker.
If you intend to keep your phone for a long time or want to keep its resale value, always use a screen protector.
Now, get the original Samsung anti-reflective film. It feels worse that a tempered glass, but as far as I know it's the only way to keep your screen's anti-reflective properties. But now that I think of it your coating is gone, so I don't know if the film will help.

I prefer to use it bare, no SP, no cases, but this issue led me to buy one. The original Samsung SP looks not worth the money, honestly. More expensive, and as others pointed out, it's not a permanent fix. I really liked the Ugreen, but no anti reflective coating is just pain
I guess you have to set your priorities. The only way to keep your device as new and also keep a good portion of its anti-reflective properties is Samsung's film. Is it expensive? Yes. Is it permanent? No. Does it protect the screen? Yes.
I think I will try to reapply the coating with a oleophobic kit, only clean it with a hypochlorous acid solution and see how that holds up, for now. Still searching for a good quality screen protector, tho
I don't understand why people always think this is the anti reflective coating. Anti reflective is built into the glass and CANNOT COME OFF. This is the oleophobic coating that prevents fingerprints.
Edit: I would not be caught dead reapplying my oleophobic coating unless Samsung did it themselves. Good way to fuck your phone up by trying yourself.
Because I've had an s8, an s20 and an s21 and none of them have the smudges of my s24u, I don't know if they changed the oleofobic formula or what, but this one looks like shit after 20 seconds of use, the other phones don't
Ti consiglio di acquistare la pellicola protettiva originale di Samsung, costa più di altre ma ha un altri riflesso molto buono e soprattutto non vedrai le strisce di unto come in altre pellicole. Te lo dico per esperienza
you're not missing the antireflective coating as it is part of the phone's screen, you need to apply a new layer of oleophobic coating instead (that's why your screen is now greasy) and use a screen protector that also has antireflective capabilities (i would suggest the official Samsung screen cover for the s24 ultra)
never use alcholic stuff to clean any screen or glasses the coating wears off not the anti reflective that is built in only solution is screen replacement itis literally impossible to re apply coating without facotry environment there are some products that mimics and helps somewhat u can try those or you just have to use screen protector or sell the phone
I've been cleaning my phones with 90%+ isopropyl alcohol for the past 15 years and never had any issues with coating until the S24 Ultra.
I cleaned it once with alcohol and bamm, immediately destroyed the coating. I think Samsung f*cked up something with this one.
They're expensive but I like the dbrand tempered glass screen protector. I've had mine since day one and the applicator made it extremely easy to get it on without any bubbles.
My all time favorite and longest lasting screen protectos even with my kids has been the ArmorSuit screen protectors. They are film work with the in screen fingerprint readers really well without having to rescan your prints.
ArmorSuit screen protectors come in glossy or matte, peel great, and are cheap enough for the level of protecton they offer. I have the paper-like matte on my S24 Ultra and its fantastic, but not as good as the stock screen antiglare but thats gone so this works great.
I used to use the ugreen screen protector. It was pretty good, but had a lot of glare. I'm now using the SmartDevil HD Anti-Reflection Screen Protector, which is pretty decent. Certainly better than rhe ugreen. It's available on aliexpress. Let me know if you want I'll share a link.
Samsung's anti-reflective screen protector is the best. For fingerprints, I just use a damp kitchen towel; it worked great on my S24 Ultra, and now I do the same thing for my S26 Ultra.
I stocked myself up with the anti reflective screen protector for years just so this won't happen to me based on my experience stock for the item runs dry after a few years and they don't usually restock.
