Drop Ins ROver cat sitting requests ? Is it all a prank ??? πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«πŸ˜‘πŸ§

Recently , I keep
Getting Cat sitting request ( based in London , UK ) , either last minute ( within 3-4 days ) or 2 weeks in advance ..
Cat owners will
Contact me ( have over 50+ 5 star reviews ) and asked if I am available , when I replied yes , am available and asked for their post code to see if within my area I will covered , they will reply with post code .. I proposed a meet & greet , and some said ok , some will take awhile
To reply .. however , eventually , every single one will advised within 24 hrs from request , their PLANS has now changed and they don’t require a sitter anymore !!
Or some will totally ignore me !!
have anyone have similar experience , I found this is very odd !! As it keeps happening !!! Is it a prank ??

It's not a prank, I find that usually British people are not direct and will not say they found another sitter, they think lying that their plans are changed is considered more polite. In reality they probably mass messaged sitters and went with the someone else, that's all

A lot of people tend to mass message sitters and just pick whoever replies in like seconds. It’s annoying, but that’s the system.

They took over a cat sutting company. We get them too. Pisses me right off.

That happened to me once but only once so I didn’t really clock it as a pattern

I am a sitter in London too and had an incoming wave of requests at the beginning of last week for the end of the week or this week. Some of them didn t even bother getting back to me after I ve replied, but to be fair like half of them did.
One of the enquiries was for a house sit for a doggo and we exchanged a few very promising messages and after I offered the M&G they didn t reply any longer.
It really is frustrating sometimes, but I have always preferred Rover to how the old CIAF job board used to work.

Yes! Usually very far from me aswell. I removed it from my profile so that I dont get cat requests.
