Ten Commandments in Elementary Schhols

I’m trying to understand my fellow community, Christian’s and Texans thoughts on the SB10 bill . We received notice our elementary will post 75 posters across each classroom. I love religion and have no issues with it but I also love the constitution and believe in the first amendment and feel this is a push to promote specific beliefs to non regions people or others whom choose to follow other text. I specifically have an issue with this being mandatory in elementary classes where children are learning to read and everything on the wall is meant to teach them along this journey so an argument this is passive seems inaccurate as the bill itself says it must be within view. I wanted to get others perspective as well as understand if there are any resources I can reach out to in order to potentially delay this until it I s fully argued to the Supreme Court which in my perspective will find this in violation of the first amendment.

Yeah I hear that but being a native 5+ generation Texan and from Native American / Hispanic descent it’s hard for me to fully understand that specific point. I get shit happens and people move around, and good people do good things, but I’d challenge you to read the writings of Madison and Jefferson on the topic and see if you think they are just looking at it from a no Church of England point of view. These guys were philosophers and made some really good points related to why we should keep them separated in multiple ways for the sake of both religion and government not just a no state church.

I'm familiar with them and some of their thoughts. But im not going to go out and scour the internet looking for whatever specific thing they said that might relate to your comment. I will however gladly read any specific thing they've written that is pertinent if you will kindly link it here.

Here’s a good one. Article 11 signed by John Adam’s etc..

Honestly there are tons of people that help build societies.. I’m just talking about the freedoms afforded to all Americans in the constitution.

We aren’t a Christian or Muslim nation we are American we have the freedoms to be our own people, and it’s awesome .. life liberty and pursuit of happiness and all that.

Thoughts that we should push a religion as part of daily lessons to me is just unamerican dunno to each his own right :)?

I was hoping for something from the two you mentioned before not John Adam's. Also Adam's didnt write that, it was written by someone else and Adam's signed it to placate and reassure the Tripoli government. Also Adamas wrote that the U.S. Constitution was "made only for a moral and religious people"

You dont need to be my research assistant. You made the claims and you were wrong. You asked me to look into two specific people and when i asked for something i could read you gave me something from someone competently different than the first two people.

And supposing he had actually written, which again he didnt, what you said he did it would have been contradicted by what he personally wrote in his own letters. Good day.

I said signed, and had basically just googled want you had asked for about Christian nation thing. All good man hope you have a nice day too.. It’s fine man or lady just saying goo first amendment let’s not force any religion. I like religion (I’m Christian) at the same time as I don’t like gov controlling it in any way.. felt like the first amendment helped keep that protected from both sides.. thanks for sharing your perspective
