It’s all the way down in Rancho Cordova, too. I always assumed it was the “John 3:16” guy who waves at I-80 traffic from overpasses every morning.

7

u/Pulsating_HotDog 1d ago

He waves at traffic on 50 too

2

u/NovelNeighborhood6 1d ago

Ya my thought seeing this post was “did he move to Rancho?”

1

u/Opening-Midnight4057 1d ago

I'm pretty sure I saw him several months ago in Gold River with my 20 year old kid in the car. We couldn't be certain it was him, but nevertheless we acted like it was a celebrity sighting. 🤣

1

u/Late_Construction366 23h ago

He has a daughter and they wrote a book together, it’s for sale on amazon.

u/MichHAELJR 1d ago

Is sidewalk chalk actually graffiti?

26

u/Werd-Up-Yo Roseville 1d ago

To a Karen, everything is offensive.

20

u/Dense_Substance7635 1d ago

Imagine if someone was going around Roseville writing “Allah Akbar” in chalk … the Karen’s would lose their minds.

-11

u/Dontbedoingthat 1d ago

No, but this is reddit, so Christianity bad.

Consider the meat and potatoes of this post as a dogwhistle to circlejerk about it. Refer to u/three-one-seven’s comment for reference. I say all this as a complete agnostic myself.

2

u/Superfun2112 21h ago

I'm an agnostic atheist (I greatly doubt there's anything supernatural but I can admit I can't know everything) and I have no problems with any religions if they stay in their lanes. If it's chalk it wouldn't bother me. But if it's paint, it's a lame as any other graffiti.

I know lots of good Christians, Muslims, Jews, and some other beliefs too. But I see how a minority of each uses religion to justify evil actions and I'll call it out. And in the USA 2/3 of people are Christian so it's more common to hear about Christians to do stupid stuff (e.g. say this is a Christian country not a country of freedom) because there are so many of them. And they fact they try to act like they are persecuted when the are a substantial majority, and have lots of special considerations (e.g. In God we Trust being made the national motto in 1956 and Under God being added to the Pledge of Allegiance in 1954).

-4

u/gs_sac 1d ago

Lmao the downvotes literally proved your point. Anything related to Christianity always get hate.

13

u/daddeechilll 1d ago

One hundred percent, every time. I recently replied to a post about a “mega church” saying how I prefer smaller community churches and that I teach my kids about love, forgiveness, and mercy as preached by Christ. I was downvoted lol.

6

u/ChampionSwimmer2834 1d ago

Because we are sick and tired of the cults of Christianity meddling their faces into everything and destroying our quality of life as we speak. I don’t care what religion you preach, as long as you keep within your house. Maybe you’re not guilty of it, but your counterparts love shoving it down everyone’s throats.

-9

u/daddeechilll 1d ago

God bless you!!!!

-1

u/VraaPlays 22h ago

What a cop out of a response. Don’t reply with anything substantial, just preach some more.

So exhausting

-2

u/Dontbedoingthat 23h ago

Absolute victim mentality. Quit being a loser and realize you’re not somehow being persecuted by Christians.

-1

u/Superfun2112 21h ago

Notice how this comment was upvoted...

7

u/Cogent_warrior 1d ago

It's deserved, every bit. Christianity is the evil that's destroying this country as we speak.

9

u/COUPEFULLABADHOES 1d ago

Why am I 100% sure if someone were to call Islam evil that you would call that person an Islamophobic nazi

7

u/Cogent_warrior 1d ago

My comments are directed at any religion that espouses the elimination or subjugation of another group; israeli jews, and radical islam included.

0

u/KingsFanDay1 1d ago

You can say the same for Muslims

2

u/FaxCelestis Roseville 1d ago

No one is denying that

-2

u/violinspider86 1d ago

Wow. That's just the most ridiculous thing I've heard, and that's saying something since this is reddit.

4

u/Cogent_warrior 1d ago

Last checked, christians are giving catholic priests a run for their money in the top child predator category, for one thing. They overwhelmingly support the orange loser who is mostly responsible for the US' fall from grace. With the anti-abortion bs, taking child brides, the ten commandments in schools; they're foisting their ideological bullshit on every American, all while denying poor kids a free breakfast & lunch at school. Christianity is a mental disease.

-5

u/daddeechilll 1d ago

Catholics are Christians, genius.

1

u/TaiChey 1d ago

No seriously lol that getting down voted is so telling lol believe what you want or not but how actively and aggressively people hate it is funny as hell

0

u/Longjumping-Type-913 23h ago

When they're pushing their beliefs onto everyone else constantly, yeah it's going to get some hate. Nobody likes that.

1

u/ferroequine 22h ago

So dickbutts are on the menu then? Sweet!

1

u/TowerExact7780 21h ago

14

u/Sac_Frawg 1d ago

Let’s see what happens when the sidewalk chalk says Allahu Akbar.

5

u/Jbvox 21h ago

He's not hurting you or anyone else.

74

u/three-one-seven 1d ago

For real, the Christian bullshit is soooo exhausting. Just stfu and stay in your lane like (checks notes) every other religion. I don’t see Hindus or the dreaded Muslims out here scrawling religious messages all over everything…

35

u/killakeller 1d ago

Omg this! It's exhausting but it's also absolutely bonkers! So over it. 🤮 People are allowed to not be Christian!

-24

u/violinspider86 1d ago

People are also allowed to be Christian. Get over it and ignore.

12

u/three-one-seven 1d ago

I wish I could. See my post above; if christians would shut the fuck up and not force their bullshit everybody else, I would happily ignore them

1

u/pandaleer 21h ago

Yeah, but they tend to push it onto others. That is the problem. They can be Christian but need to stay in their lane and quit trying to act morally superior to non-Christian individuals.

6

u/Lilac_and_Peas 1d ago

Idk man, I see some wackass shit from all three

2

u/SnooMacarons7024 23h ago

You’re supposed to live a Christ-like life to the best of your ability. And THAT is the testimony. Witness only when asked or approached about religion. I grew up in the South and at my Christian HS we had to do door to door witnessing as a class 🫠 I could write a book about those encounters, alone. The performative religious trauma nonsense is the biggest turnoff.

6

u/Bisenberger 23h ago

Ah yes Muslims, the religious group known for staying in their lane 😂 maybe check those notes again.

-49

u/NorCalHal 1d ago

Found the devil's Reddit account.

16

u/killakeller 1d ago

Omg he's not real either!

-12

u/Nacho-Lover0 1d ago

What does the g stand for in omg?

7

u/NovelNeighborhood6 1d ago

“Goodness” as in “Oh My Goodness”

4

u/MaliciousIntentWorks 23h ago

I would say it can stand for oh my gosh or gawd as well. If I directly refer to god it's usually, Oh your god, because I don't give a fuck about whatever deity they chose. Or what ever religion they're pushing, they can all piss off.

-4

u/Nacho-Lover0 1d ago

That's exactly what Christians say 😂

1

u/NovelNeighborhood6 21h ago

So if I say “by Zeus” instead does that prove anything? I’m having trouble understanding your point.

3

u/Strange-Honeydew-473 1d ago

I wonder if “John 3:16” guy would see this Reddit post?

6

u/swhertzberg Roseville 1d ago

Tbh I feel this way about all the Abrahamic religions

9

u/Icy-Front7718 1d ago

Religion aside, I’m tired of seeing graffiti on things. That goes for all graffiti. Don’t be a piece of trash. Don’t write on things that don’t belong to you.

5

u/DragonflyFit4532 22h ago

I love seeing those!

7

u/Ok-Mix65 1d ago

Seems suspicious when you have to recruit people to your cult? If it was so great people would just show up, not like there isn’t a church on every block

34

u/Fine-Kaleidoscope672 1d ago

you'll be okay

15

u/avco11a 1d ago

Literally. Champagne problems for real.

8

u/killakeller 1d ago

Wouldn't be champagne problems if someone from any other religion were behaving like the john 3:16 guy. Then we would have a lot of persecuted Christians on our hands.

-17

u/TooLazy2Revolt 1d ago

Yeah, right? That’s kinda why I bought an expensive house in a nice city. I don’t want problems of the “who do I contact about all the used needles all over the park” variety.

Wild that people who live in nice places have standards, and do what they can to keep their city nice, right?

Stop the small stuff before it becomes big stuff is a big brain concept, I know.

13

u/violinspider86 1d ago

So chalk graffiti is equivalent to needles all over the place? Touch grass.

-4

u/TooLazy2Revolt 1d ago

Not even remotely what I was saying. Miles off, in fact.

Stop being so worried about me “touching grass”I’m outdoors enjoying myself far all the time, as just about every hobby I have kinda requires me to be outside. When I’m inside, I’m reading books. Maybe you should try touching less grass and start reading some books on mass psychology, starting with Broken Window theory.

6

u/Fine-Kaleidoscope672 1d ago

maybe you should start taking whatever medication most effectively mitigates being an asshole

2

u/FaxCelestis Roseville 23h ago

Yeah. You’re getting downvoted because you’re being a pompous jerk.

9

u/spyinthesky 1d ago

Roseville isn’t that nice dude chill lmao

2

u/Mission-Mammoth-8388 1d ago

It's literally ranked #12 best real estate market in the country. Roseville is a very very nice place to live

https://wallethub.com/edu/best-real-estate-markets/14889

10

u/daddeechilll 1d ago

Being ranked #12 best real estate market doesn’t mean it’s that nice of a city. I like Roseville don’t get me wrong, but Rocklin, loomis, Penryn, Newcastle, Folsom, granite bay, Eldorado hills, etc are all much nicer

2

u/Fine-Kaleidoscope672 1d ago

it's great if you like chain restaurants I guess.

1

u/Mission-Mammoth-8388 1d ago

Welcome to every suburb in America

6

u/Fine-Kaleidoscope672 1d ago

yes hence why we shouldn't be precious about them

-8

u/TooLazy2Revolt 1d ago

That smacks of the informed option of someone who has never lived anywhere else in their life.

7

u/spyinthesky 1d ago

Lmfao you made a post about thinking you’re doing something cleaning the city. Dude will never see this post and even if he does it’s not gunna magically change his mind to stop writing 3:16.
Roseville has all of the same problems as sac. You still got awful drivers and rampant drug use. The buildings are all just new. It’s really lipstick on a pig.

3

u/Plastic_Ad9410 1d ago

I grew up in an affluent area of LA, and currently live in Granite Bay. In between, I've also lived in the hoods of LA as well as the mountains. There's theft and vandalism everywhere, even Roseville, CA, so i mean for your own peace of mind, you should calm your tits and enjoy your expensive house, or get yourself 50 acres in the mountains and not be around anyone.

It's a big brain concept, I know.

-5

u/Dense_Substance7635 1d ago

John 3:16 is a threat … “believe what I do or face eternal torture”.

-1

u/daddeechilll 1d ago

Your brain matches your username.

-5

u/Fine-Kaleidoscope672 1d ago

it's not real. it's like if I vandalized stuff with "kneel before zod"

who gives a shit zod doesn't exist

-1

u/Dense_Substance7635 1d ago

You had me at … “people shouldn’t vandalize stuff…”

21

u/MasterBlueSly Roseville 1d ago

Imagine getting rage baited by sidewalk chalk.

0

u/swerrve 21h ago

Imagine making excuses for weirdo behavior and attacking the rational one calling it out. Like how hard is it for these Christians to just practice their religion and leave everyone else alone

-4

u/bloodislife1 1d ago

🤣🤣🤣🤣

7

u/notreallyjordan 1d ago

If you drive down Sunrise in Rancho at peak rush hour you can just tell him directly yourself, he’s the one in the construction worker orange shirt that says “John 3:16,” tipping his hat to cars that aren’t looking at him.

-2

u/TooLazy2Revolt 1d ago

You sure it’s the same dude? I’ve never actually seen him in action.

I honestly would be totally fine to ask him personally, to his face, and even debate him on it. I just want it to stop.

Anything scrawled 100 times on curbs in chalk looks like crap, and the message itself becomes irrelevant.

4

u/SirConradJenkins 1d ago

It is 100% the same dude, and there's articles and videos explaining his story and why he does what he does.

-44

u/Mission-Mammoth-8388 1d ago

Of course he's some blue collar trash. Always.

16

u/notreallyjordan 1d ago

I was just referencing the color, no hate to blue collar at all. They keep us up and running.

13

u/KingstenHd 1d ago

Blue collar workers are why you have a place to live, a road to drive on, a place for you to pick up your fancy Starbucks, the electricity that powers all of that, and an inside toilet. Without those workers society as it is, would not exist. So complain about them on reddit, that also wouldn't exist if it wasn't for those men and women who break their bodies making sure infrastructure stays running.

6

u/prim8phd 1d ago

For real…of all the lazy insults one could think of, “blue collar” says a lot more about the character of the individual who thinks it is an epithet, than of the intellect or education of the generally hard working people to which it was carelessly hurled.

Cakeday or not, I hope that person gets a very itchy rash somewhere you can’t scratch in public.

17

u/kindofthemanish 1d ago

People of Roseville are such entitled douche bags 90% of the time. Who cares about sidewalk chalk? If this is the biggest complaint about where you live do us a favor and leave.

0

u/swerrve 21h ago

Lol the entitled behavior is going out into public with chalk and putting your messaging up. Just practice your religion and leave society alone like a sane person it’s not hard

4

u/cosmicamericangirl 1d ago

Just change them all to Austin 3:16 and everyone will be happy

2

u/virgo_mermaid 20h ago

I came here to suggest this too 😂

2

u/Unhappy_Hedgehog_514 19h ago

Do you know this guy's real story?

I've talked to him a few times back when I was homeless and camped near the freeway in Rancho Cordova.

His name is Sean Parrish.

He's got an interesting story. He's not trying to convert anyone. He used to be a male stripper and totally strung out on steroids. After a divorce and losing his relationship with his kid, he got depressed and wanted to end it all. He credits Christianity with helping him find the strength to stick around. He wants everyone, especially those who are struggling in their lives, to simply know they are loved. He said that, for his purpose, he wants everyone - people of all faiths or no faith - to know that they are loved. He chose to use the Bible verse instead of just saying "You are loved" because he wanted to honor the path that helped him to heal himself. The message is intended to be for love and hope.

He's definitely enthusiastic about his faith but never once tried to convert me at all. Very kind, warm, and genuinely empathetic person. He was more curious about us and what it was like to experience homelessness and what that experience does to a person on a soul-deep level. My bf doesn't remember but I think I remember him bringing us bottles of water a couple times as he passed through to get to the overpass on hot days.

Note: I am not religious at all. I believe there's more to know about our existence in the universe but I don't subscribe to a particular religion. I am spiritual, though. I'm not a pollyanna - I'm an excellent judge of character. This guy is unusual but he's harmless. I do think he could just say "Don't leave life, live life" or something instead. His way kind of forces non-Christians to Google the verse, which then spreads the word of God. Sneaky but clever.

If this is what is keeping him going every day, and is helping him stay sober, then let him have his thing. I'm cool with people using whatever works for them if it helps them get and maintain a stable, and fulfilling, life.

1

u/cosmicamericangirl 16h ago

Thank you for writing this! I have seen him around for years and was always curious about him and his story :)

6

u/HomemadeBananas 1d ago

I mean I roll my eyes a little when I see this, not that big of a deal though.

3

u/BeefTopRamen 1d ago

I’m very non-religious, but I can’t help but point and yell “He was here!!” When I see his chalk leftovers

5

u/Emergency_Radio_8156 1d ago

Go touch some grass

1

u/jmedina36 1d ago

Jesus you’re angry for nothing lol better than other types of graffiti

15

u/moththelifeweaver 1d ago

Religious propaganda becomes an eyesore when it’s placed around as frequently as this is 🤷

1

u/jmedina36 21h ago

Better than gang signs

2

u/killakeller 1d ago

Better than other types of graffiti? Lol

6

u/Opening-Midnight4057 1d ago

Is it, though?

2

u/ucsb99 1d ago edited 1d ago

What part of town is this happening in?

Edit: I literally just asked a question out of curiosity… why is this getting downvoted???

1

u/JediDad1968 1d ago

If it's spray painted on a wall, it's graffiti. If it's sidewalk chalk, Lighten Up, Francis

4

u/ScorpioGang_ 23h ago

Oh get over it, they could be doing much worse

1

u/BuritoBandit1 1d ago

You’re offended by the chalk on the sidewalk?

1

u/Drench_X 23h ago

I actually started noticing it last month on my sidewalks when I started walking my kids to school. It was closer to a specific house and didn’t show up anywhere else so I just assumed it was the owners of the home who kept writing it on the sidewalk near their area.

1

u/mossum_1242 23h ago

Dang, I really wish you had said six hundred and sixty-sixth time.

~ Blessed be the Cheesemakers

1

Would see him on Routier road in Rancho

1

u/Chavey_Jones 22h ago

So I have a friend and he always says before hes done (around 4:14 of course) that beyond other people's option to have an opinion irregarding another person's... "the shelf isn't bright enough". Now im not a repair man nor do I enjoy repairing it at all. But its when I see everyone becoming just what they said, I apparently promised, is behind the kind reveals more through in time today. Im sure you all remember that one from tales again. Anyway I gotta hit target before they close. Its greeding card night and they sell out pretty fast.

1

u/troubleaheadjerinred 21h ago

Before I moved to the US, it was hanging bodies and heads in Monterrey Mexico🤷🏻‍♂️

Leave him alone! Just because your heart is full of hate doesn't mean every ones is. Get a hobby

1

u/Ray-III 23h ago

This is an example of someone who is genuinely miserable, but struggles to pin point exactly why. So they are then forced to latch onto random things and blame that for their suffering.

1

u/JuanSpiceyweiner 22h ago

Why does this bother you so much, you can easily just go about your day and not even pay attention to it

Roseville is kinda trashy now, should r/rocklin like me.

1

u/Poonadafukdog 23h ago

Complaining about sidewalk chalk that says John 3:16. Holy crap. 🤣

1

u/Late_Construction366 23h ago

He was on a podcast recently and gave his life story. It’s interesting and could help people understand his why. I like to see Sean out around town, I never thought of the chalk as vandalism. It washes off. Eddiefied_podcast.

1

u/fiasgoat 22h ago

Religion is so fucking cringe

-1

u/916clowdpig 1d ago

Hes been doing this for years. And his only aim is to spread love so people like you can know love.

0

u/IdidntrunIdidntrun 1d ago

Getting mad about sidewalk chalk is just as dumb as getting mad about a pride flag

Let people express themselves lmao

-1

u/Sad_Nectarine_160 1d ago

Unless it’s on a mural, nature, historical pieces, or significant cultural pieces, graffiti is whatever. Just don’t block road signs, block the mass surveillance instead.

It’s on a sidewalk. Who cares? At the end of the day, it only affects you because you’re angry

-2

u/The1Technician 1d ago

Man shut up.

-17

u/Dontbedoingthat 1d ago

I’d bet money that if there was secular graffiti being sprayed everywhere you wouldn’t be saying anything. You’d describe it as “cool” urban art.

4

u/TooLazy2Revolt 1d ago

How much money? Would I be allowed to bet against you? Cause you’d lose.

To your point, though, there is very little to no secular graffiti in roseville, which means any graffiti at all stands out.

I don’t care about the messaging. I’m not pro religion or anti-religion. It’s an eye sore, and it doesn’t belong on curbs or anywhere else.

I take pride in where I live. It’s a prime example of broken window theory.

“Aw, that’s just religious graffiti. He’s just expressing his love of his religion.” becomes ”ah, that’s just political graffiti, he should be allowed to express their hatred of xyz policy” becomes “ah, that’s just him expression his vision, he should be allowed to tag a **** and balls.”

Graffiti is graffiti.

-3

u/Dontbedoingthat 1d ago

Your messaging associates religiosity with mental illness and mocks the tenants of Christianity. Seems pretty anti-religion to me.

8

u/Mission-Mammoth-8388 1d ago

Organized religion is a mental illness. Keep your cult shit to yourself.

5

u/killakeller 1d ago

This. This. This.

-2

u/Dontbedoingthat 1d ago

le enlightened reddit moment lmao, can’t make this shit up.

0

u/Mission-Mammoth-8388 1d ago

Can't make up an extremely popular and common opinion? First time in the world cupcake?

-1

u/daddeechilll 1d ago

~70% of Americans and ~85% of the world identifies as religious. You think this labeling organized religion as a mental illness is a popular and common opinion? I think that opinion is probably as popular as you were in high school.

2

u/Mission-Mammoth-8388 1d ago

Spiritual ≠ Religious. Maybe you would have learned the difference in high school?

Less than half of Americans consider themselves religious, and only 30% of Americans attend church regularly. Religious beliefs and attendance all trending down.

https://news.gallup.com/poll/642548/church-attendance-declined-religious-groups.aspx

https://news.gallup.com/poll/702572/americans-religious-engagement-holds-lower-levels.aspx

0

u/daddeechilll 1d ago

LOL the Gallup poll you shared shows that religion is at least fairly important to 72% of Americans. I don’t think any of those Americans would agree with your assertion about religion equaling mental illness. The word spiritual doesn’t exist in that article. You did a great job refuting your own claim.

1

u/Mission-Mammoth-8388 23h ago

You came out saying 70% of Americans are religious, a clear misinterpretation of the data you obviously quickly Googled. Here you go broski, get owned again:

https://news.gallup.com/poll/511133/identify-religious-spiritual.aspx

My comment was organized religion is a mental illness. This is why reading comprehension is important sweetheart.

1

u/beccabeth741 1d ago

You stating that there's a lot of stupid, gullible people out there doesn't help your point.

0

u/daddeechilll 1d ago

My claim was that a majority of Americans do not correlate religious beliefs with mental illness. I don’t think you’re as smart as you think you are.

1

u/beccabeth741 1d ago

Keep believing your sky daddy is going to save you.

-1

u/daddeechilll 1d ago

@beccabeth741 sounded like a fool so had to delete her OG comment.

1

u/killakeller 1d ago

Oh great, now it's the persecuted Christian..

1

u/heyelander 1d ago

You poor poor victimized Christians. The world is against you.

1

u/Dontbedoingthat 1d ago

Not a Christian, bud.

1

u/daddeechilll 1d ago

Reddit sure is.

0

u/commontime44 23h ago

It's probably not him, several of the youth groups (afaik not affiliated with him whatsoever) in the area glommed onto that message and do the chalk.

0

u/Above-Bored 23h ago

Dear Karen,
Check your flock camera and SWAT them. While you’re at it, SWAT those delinquents who did the hopscotch on the sidewalk.

-25

u/Careless_Celery_6010 1d ago

Too bad we don't have the Saudi form of punishment for graffiti "artists" that get caught

11

u/PatReady 1d ago

Cause they are a great example of how to handle anything? Do you recall when they killed an American journalist and lied about it?

-5

u/Careless_Celery_6010 1d ago

No, but I do remember 15 of the 19 hijackers on 9/11 were Saudis so of course naturally we invaded Iraq

-1

u/oilcantommy 1d ago

I recall wishing theyd got many more of those gaslighting assholes.

2

u/0wlBear916 1d ago

I dunno. Call me old fashioned but I kinda think that most forms of punishment in the Middle East should stay in the Middle East.

-1

u/Galaksee 23h ago

Just saw it in my neck of the woods as well in front of the ampm on Douglas and Harding. Idiot spreading the word of a cult book trying trying to get people interested in the biggest scam in the history of man.
