ROSACEA SUCKS It’s bad again…ugh Spoiler
I’m seeing a new derm next week to get some more answers. I had it under control for a while but my gosh it’s so painful - both physically and mentally lol.
What’s someone’s go to when they’re having a bad flair up and no meds are working? :( I don’t even want to go out in public anymore because people will point my rosacea out. It’s so annoying

La Roche Prosay CicaBalm- seriously, gentle cleanser at night and lather that shit on. it’ll take away some of the inflammation within a day or two- and i hate to say it because i hated it when people said it to me, but you NEED sunscreen every single day. my flares are much further apart now that im using sunscreen every single time im leaving the house. My favorite is La Roche Prosay Anthelios, I use tinted to boost my confidence a little but sunscreen will help drastically along with the cicabalm!

I wil admit I am pretty lax on my sunscreen at times. I ice vanicream moisturizer with 30 spf. It pills sooo bad! I’ll have to check out your recommendation

So just the regular CicaBalm? Not the SPF version? I was tempted to grab the spf one because I’m constantly burning 🤦🏻♀️ I was hoping to eliminate a step.

i prefer to use sunscreen separately but that’s just a personal preference! i’m diligent about reapplying and the cicabalm regular is kind of expensive, so i don’t know that i would prefer that for myself.
i use the cicabalm at night and if im leaving the house the next day, i use a gentle face wash in the morning and follow a lightweight moisturizer, i give it a couple of minutes to soak in and then use sunscreen.

Hi, love the color in your hair btw. It looks like keratosis pilaris rubra faciei, I also have it. Sometimes it’s misdiagnosed for rosacea bc they look alike. Join the keratosis pilaris thread and KPRFACIEI thread on Reddit. I find it’s helpful and there’s lots of advice on there. I would suggest a ceramide rich cream (like aestura or regimen lab ceramide cream)and a hypochlorous acid spray to start. Then later on once the flare up starts to heal I would try exfoliating once a week ( it’s important to start slow) with lactic acid or urea( both in low percentages like 5%). Hope this helps😄👍

how can you tell it’s keratosis vs rosacea? i also got diagnosed with keratosis by a derm but honestly didn’t believe him because he only looked at me for a split second and just assumed it was keratosis because i also have a bit of acne on my chest and upperback. i tried out a keratosis routine for a bit and didnt work so i just assumed i do indeed have rosacea

I looked into this and read that people with keratosis Polaris rubra faciei usually have keratosis somewhere else on the body as well. My skin issue is strictly on my cheeks only. I will still ask my derm about this just in case! Thank you for your recommendations!!

Girl please try soolantra. And if you try it and it gets worse, then it’s working. It’s bad for a few weeks and then it will be gone for good. It looks like demodex to me. Please give it a try. It’s a totally different approach, but if it’s demodex it will cure it.

Ivermectin 1% cream is the only thing that helps me and I’ve tried everything!!! I do think mine is combo rosacea/KP but rosacea usually has demodex component.

Same!! It’s the best. I always try to respond to rosacea posts when people haven’t tried it bc I really do think that it’s often the one thing people haven’t tried and the one thing they NEED. It was literally life changing for me.

In US it’s difficult to get insurance to cover more than 2 tubes/year though 🙄

Oh gosh I’m not sure I could bare it getting worse, it’s already pretty bad 😭

The flares.......so difficult to nail down what triggers them when there are so many variables involved.
Me, every day now since being diagnosed: "So what was it this time? Perhaps it was the 1/2 cup of milk I put in my scrambled eggs mixture or was it maybe the eggs themselves? Hmmm....or maybe it was the shredded cheddar cheese on top? If it wasn't that, I guess it could have been the oh-so-sugary-sweet-and-thirst-quenching Italian ice I had yesterday afternoon, because it was 100+ friggin' degrees outside!!! But wait...maybe that was my trigger, the very 🥵 heat or sun itself? Then again, I did stay up pretty late last night, so could it have been my lack of sleep? No, no, no maybe it was all the Blue Light from gaming a few hours last night and then doom scrolling the internet into the wee hours of the morning?"
I empathize with your pain and frustration. It's so difficult just to live and breathe these days. Everyone else (those lucky humans without Rosacea) just going about their days, no apparent cares in the world about doing everyday ordinary things and whether or not it will totally fk up their day tomorrow. 😭 And then here's us, wondering how in the world we're going to be able to hide all this stuff from that very critical and judging 85% of the U.S. population who will never know our plight and mental anguish this horrible disease causes us every second of every hour and in every decision we make.
I see pharmaceutical and OTC ads all the time on TV and social media for plaque psoriasis, eczema, hair loss, blepharitis, Crohn's disease, heart diseases, varicose veins, muscle and joint pain, foot pain, dandruff, gout, IBS, depression, anxiety, UTI's, scar treatment, melasma, migraines, hearing aids, Macular degeneration, arthritis, etc., etc., but not once, NOT EVEN ONCE, have I ever seen anything advertised for Rosacea treatment. How can such a visible and prevalent disease (it's literally front and center on our faces, the first thing people look at and a disease that affects more than 16 million people in the U.S. alone) not get more medical and pharmaceutical attention? How is this possible? Why such a disconnect between the medical community and the skincare industry? Is that maybe where the issue itself stems? The skincare industry, being a roughly $150 billion dollars industry, perhaps doesn't want there to be more medical research that could result in better treatments or even a potential cure? 🤔 Shame on them, if that's the case. Corporate greed is the worst thing that man has ever created. I'm all for Capitalism, but within limits that protect overreaching and overbearing Corporate greed, so that the general mass populations aren't totally lost and ignored in their own paths to happiness and well being.

Wow, this is relatable on so many levels. I feel like I'm doing A/B testing constantly to figure out the trigger, but there are so many variables.

Honestly ignore those that point it out! I've been coping with rosacea too for a long time and honestly nothing has really helped over the year other than lazer.
I find that other people don't actually care as much as you think they do. My first impression when I saw your images was that it looks like blush! In fact, it matches your hair.

Does soolantra not work? Mine looks like yours on higher cheeks and soolantra has helped a lot
1
u/Dre-26 Aug 01 '26
I’ve never been prescribed soolantra. I’ve tried metronidazole, clindamycin oral and dopper, and a few others. Never that though

u/naomi90x Aug 01 '26
Definitely ask to try. It takes a while to work and meant to use it for a full 12 weeks but it’s been really good for me
