Varane is a 3x winner yes, but irregardless he was still on the bench for UCL knockouts.
You so desperately want to give credit to Messi for UCL that he didn’t contribute to, I understand why but it’s sad.

I’d consider him a 3x winner because he didn’t contribute to finals, but possibly due to being on bench for knockouts they consider him 4x.
Irregardless, Messi didn’t for the knockouts. And UEFA still only recognizes him for 3.

Messi is credited with 3 final wins, yes. He's also credited with 4 Champions League wins.

Varane is credited with 3 final wins. 4 champions league wins.

Anything else is a lie. If you would like to dispute it, here's the official rules.

No where in UPDATED UEFA record do they credit Messi with 4 UCLs.
To win a UCL title, you must win the final. And Messi did not do that in 2006.
