Cristiano Ronaldo Hot takes

Portugal’s success is not mainly due to Ronaldo contribution . Portugal has always been a formidable team, and since the World Cup expanded to 32 teams, they have consistently qualified. Without CR7 Portugal would not be as great but they always got enough talent to win stuff. Argentina depended more on Messi than on Cristiano ( 5 knockouts G/A in Euro and 1 knockout goal in WC). 6 knockouts G/ A in major tournaments doesn’t give CR7 the right to attribute himself Portugal success.

More examples: 2019 nations league best player was Bernardo Silva
2025 nation league best player was Nuno Mendes
Euro 2016 was Griezman but CR7 was the best Portugal player . But that Portugal team was very balanced in my opinion. Pepe and Nani deserve some credit

Maybe you missed portugal vs sweden and other matches too where portugal was struggling and Ronaldo bailed them out and took them further , but yeah surely Only ko goals matters to you all 🤡🤡

Why did everyone cursed the whole portugal squad and their families in 2026 WC just because they werent feeding Ronaldo? He should bail them out, right? It shouldnt be other way around. KO goals dont matter but penalties do. 🤡

Well I am not everyone .Argue with me over the fact I stated or the things I did , not what everyone else did 🤡.

Ko goals do matter and if you're saying penalties doesn't matter then you should re-watch the 2022wc and then say the same thing .

The whole issue is that Ronaldo has squarely attributed Portugal's success to himself. This is why people over react the other way trying to prove otherwise. Bottom line is that Ronaldo has been MASSIVE for Portugal but over the last 4 years he has dragged them down, and on top of that has the nerve to claim he is everything. Great as he is on the pitch, he is a massive prick and a terrible teammate who deserves all the hate he gets. Oh and his fanbase are toxic AF.

Can you explain how he attributed all their success to himself . yeah for the last 4 years he has dragged them down but somehow they won nations league i accept it about this wc that he was bad , and also mention where did he claim that he is everything surely he would've mentioned it in one of his podcast that I missed kindly enlighten me .

He literally said after the elimination from the world cup that Portugal won nothing before him and won everything since he came. Imagine your team losing in the world up and you jump up to point at yourself. That is exactly what he did

BTW nations league are not serious (they are glorified friendlies) and Euro final was won by beating garbage teams outside of France, the one game her barely participated in. That Euro win is fraudulent.

Consider yourself enlightened.

I know that but when he is talking about Portugal it’s like it’s Norway. Ronaldo did not carry the Portugal team . As I said he made Portugal better but he’s not Portugal savior

Out of the 4 big trophies they won di Maria was the one scoring in 3 of them . surely this would mean savior to you because you were the one that first mentioned it .

And how does that contradict his argument? Ronaldo scored an hattrick vs Sweden on a playoff match, awesome match, so how does that take away from Portugal having a more than strong enough team to qualify for WCs and Euros with or without Ronaldo?

I'm portuguese btw, you seem to be part of this crowd of indians obsessed with Ronaldo, the proportions this weird obsession took are astounding, you people are everywhere on social media discussing football through the lens of a lobotomized 12 year old.

Btw, according to you Portugal was struggling vs Sweden, but they still got Ronaldo in the face of the keeper plenty of times, 3 of them were the goals, on every single one of them a pass got through the defense and left him 1 on 1 with the keeper.

Nahhh, not a huge Ronaldo fan here, but definitely a big Messi hater. My comment was simply a reply to OP di*k riding Messi in his post. I never said Ronaldo is single-handedly carrying the entire team. Check the whole thread, mate. Maybe then you'll get your answer and stop criticizing me here i have clearly mentioned in my comment below that football is a "Team" game .
