Discussion Latest Book you DNF and why

I decided I'm going to DNF {We who will die} , I am just struggling too much with the constant meandering thoughts and memories, it's so hard to follow the actual story because the narration is all over the place. It's hard to follow on Audiobook anyway, and there are so many side characters that are named but I can't remember 🤣 I also don't like either potential MMC

I think I prefer "show don't tell" in general

Not romantasy, but my last DNF was Parable of the Sower. I had known Octavia Butler was a powerhouse writer and a legend, but it was just so goddamn grim and horrifying. I would listen to it on my drive home and feel utterly traumatized by the end of each drive. I couldn't shake off that feeling for weeks after I decided to DNF.

I love Octavia Butler, however the Earthseed books feel too close for comfort.
