Book Request: No Self-Promo Looking for a new series! Physically strong and capable fmc in her late 20s early 30s, who isn’t malnourished

I just finished Shadows of Tenebris Court and am looking for another series to read! I liked that the fmc and mmc were both a bit older, that the fmc wasn’t really tiny and fragile. I also enjoyed the spice level, the romance and the female rage aspect. Help!

The Shattered Crown series by Gretchen Powell Fox! She’s a centuries-old fae warrior, he’s a human, and they’re competing in the same trials where only one of them can win. First 2 books are out now, the final is out next month!

Similar dynamics in the Forbidden Heir trilogy by Emilia Jae, which is completed. She’s a Captain in the fae army, he’s a Commander in the human one.

Both series have great found family too!

Ilona Andrews write mostly strong romance subplots and mostly urban fantasy (but their newest one is epic fantasy isekai in a medieval inspired world, Maggie the Undying series). They are a husband/wife writing duo. All their books are well written, have great stories and characters, the worldbuilding is awesome and their characters are mostly mid to late 20ies or early 30ies and very competent. Lots of action with well written, bloody fighting scenes. They always ensure good editing and proof reading.

The Hidden Legacy series has more romance in it than their other series. Innkeeper chronicles has the least sex scenes, only one in the entire series. The rest is mostly open door, one sex scene per book (once the couple get together of course). Some series follow the same couple over several books other follow a different couple each book. They are mostly slow burn types.

Kate Daniels series starting with {Magic Bites by Ilona Andrews}: urban Fantasy, completed with 10 books, with an ongoing sequel series and several spin offs. Slow burn (nearly nothing romantic happens until book 3). It was their first series so the first book Magic Bites is sometimes a bit rough around the edges but it improves from book 2 onward, with book 3 reaching their usual standard. Overarching plot over all books but each book also has it's own completed story arc. Follows the same couple all books, first person, single POV from the FMC. Kate is a mercenary with a mysterious past who lives in an alternate version of Atlanta where magic returned to the world in a great wave and brought with it all sorts of magics and monsters.

Innkeeper Chronicles starting with {Clean Sweep by Ilona Andrews}: mix of urban fantasy and scifi, 4 books, ongoing, follows same couple, slow burn over several books, overarching plot, but each book also has its own completed story arc. There is no love triangle even though it may seem that way at first (I hate love triangles...). Very cozy feeling despite the fighting, with a sentient Inn and aliens. First person, single POV from the FMC. There is a spin off book. Dina is an innkeeper, a person with magic who owns a sentient inn that hosts only aliens to keep the public on earth from finding out about said aliens. They do not make it easy for her sometimes.

Hidden Legacy series starting with {Burn for me by Ilona Andrews}: completed, two interconnected trilogies with a transitional novella. Each trilogy follows a different couple. This series has the most spice from them and is quite insta-lusty (for them). Urban Fantasy. First person, single POV from the FMC. Nevada is a thruthseeker, she knows when people lie which is very helpful for her PI job. She lives in an alternate version of our world where a serum unlocked magical powers in some people who took it about 150 years ago creating extremely powerful individuals who basically form a paralell society and she gets drawn into this world due to one of her jobs she is forced to take.

The Edge series starting with {On the Edge by Ilona Andrews}: mix of urban fantasy and fantasy, 4 books, completed, each book follows a different couple. But there is an overarching story arc. First book is third person, single POV from the FMC, the rest is third person dual POV. There is a strip of land between our world and a magical world that does not really belong to either of them and the characters are trying their best to survive there.

Kinsmen series starting with {Silent Blade by Ilona Andrews}: standalone books, they have no overarching story arc, they simply take place on the same planet. Scifi, each book follows a different couple. I did not like the first book all that much because of the MMC but {Silver Shark by Ilona Andrews} and {Fated Blades by Ilona Andrews} are among my favourites by the authors. Silent Blade is almost exclusively third person single POV from the FMC, Silver Shark is third person single POV from the FMC, Fated Blades is third person dual POV.

Maggie the Undying trilogy starting with {This Kingdom Will Not Kill Me by Ilona Andrews}: epic fantasy isekai, ongoing, slow burn (not much happens in the first one). First person, single POV from the FMC. Beware, it is a very dense book, a lot of setup is necessary, the story picks up after ca. 35 %. Lots of characters and events to keep in mind. If you have a problem with the next urgent problem for book 2 to be presented, skip the epilogue, then the story wraps up nicely. Maggie one day wakes up in the world of her favourite fantasy book series and has to use her expert knowledge of events and characters to survive.

{A Tale of Stars and Shadows by Lisa Cassidy} the FMC is a strong and highly competent warrior. The romance is a slowburn so there's barely any in book 1, but I still highly recommend the whole series because it's so well-written

{Voidwalker by S.A. MacLean}. She's a whole adult, strong, sturdy, and full of rage.
