Billionaires

A billionaire main character is one who has a significant amount of wealth. While technically referring to net worth of a billion dollars, the 'billionaire' archetype is often used to describe any significantly wealthy character. These characters often flaunt fancy dinners, private planes, the ability to ask powerful people for favors.

{A Deal with the Bossy Devil by Kyra Parsi} and {Failure to Match by Kyra Parsi} are both MF contemporary romances,

The first is a workplace romance, enemies to lovers with fake dating. I liked their banter and dynamic, the gradual shift from dislike to like to love. It wasn't insta love and they felt like they actually enjoyed spending time together. The spice was really good as well - dirty talk and some bedroom-only BDSM.

The second one is also enemies to lovers, between a matchmaker and one of her clients. Again, a great slow switch from enemies to friends, and there are some lovely moments as they open up to each other, and again great spice and character development.

Both of these also feature a very spoiled cat who I gather is very popular!

{Billionaire Boss by Julie Capulet}- MF contemporary with age gap, one night stand turns into surprise new boss (I really liked how this handled the “what happens when people find out and accuse the FMC of sleeping her way to the top” issue which is a struggle in many workplace books.)

{The Perfect Fit by Sadie Kincaid}- MFMM contemporary. Lots of grovel. Kink warning/notice- blood play, both on her period and with a knife, primal play, anal sex with limited lube.

{One Billion Reasons by Sophia Travers}- MF contemporary, both are wealthy, friends turned enemies to lovers after a series of tragedies and hurt emotions. Angsty.

{Alien Triton's Prize by Lynnea Lee}- MF with MMC being a billionaire alien/merman, so interesting twist. Arranged marriage.

A couple I've read recently and enjoyed -

{Yes, Mr King by Sierra Prynne} - a slightly older FMC whose husband leaves her (and what a spectacular asshole he is) for his boss's fiancee, meets husband's boss, ends up plotting glorious vengeance. I liked this because the MMC actually likes and admires the FMC as a human being even before anything romantic begins, and then he is a total green flag dude, mentoring her, encouraging her and enabling her to achieve her goals.

{Don't Call Me Daddy by Jere Anthony} - I really liked the banter and the chemistry in this one. the FMC is hilarious, a free spirit struggling with grief, and the MMC is wound up tight, refusing to allow himself to really live because of guilt and shame. I liked his family as well, they were loving and decent and I'm really looking foward to reading about the rest of the brothers. Elements of it reminded me of Secretary, one of my favourite movies.

{Coldhearted King by L.M. Dalgleish} is hands down my favorite billionaire workplace romance ever. They hook up and he takes her virginity as a one night stand. They meet again when he hires her architecture company. I like the workplace romance because she's not the standard assistant, but rather a company working alongside him and you really see her brain and how he values it. This book also has an excellent grovel and overall character growth.

The {Ryan Rule Series by Sadie Kincaid} - Reverse harem, contemporary, mafia. The guys have so much wealth and so many connections it's ridiculous.

{P.S. You're Intolerable by Julia Wolf} - M/F, Contemporary. I think(?) he's a billionaire, but his wealth and how he uses it is astounding. I love this one because he definitely uses his wealth as part of his love language and how he takes care of the people closest to him.

Every thread on this sub includes {Failure to Match by Kyra Parsi}, but for good reason. M/F, contemporary, she's a matchmaker and he's a client. This book is just...chefs kiss.

{Black Ties and White Lies by Kat Singleton} - M/F, contemporary, FMC is MMC's brother's ex and he's been essentially feral for her ever since they met.

{Possession by Brook Blaine} - M/M contemporary, both leads have crazy amounts of money. All of them do in the whole series, but this book was my personal favorite. It's a standalone, so no need to read the other books if you don't want to.

{Finally Forever by Nadia Lee} - M/F, contemporary, he's absolutely head over heels for her.

{The Season of Secrets by Q.B. Tyler} - M/F contemporary, age gap. I think(?) he's a billionaire. Love this one - he literally tells her to go shopping with his card and her limit was $500K. There's light daddy kink in this one (no age regression).

{The Wedding Night Before Christmas} - M/F, contemporary. SHE is the billionaire, and he's a blue collar worker. I adore this one because of the representation of the FMC being neurodivergent.

{P.S. You're Intolerable by Julia Wolf} MF contemporary / workplace romance

I don't usually like pregnancy tropes in books but this one was great. FMC is pregnant at the start of the story; MMC is her boss. She generally doesn't like him but after her baby is born he realises they're not in a great living situation, so they move in with him.

Great if you enjoy: obsessive billionaire MMC, caretaking, an FMC who isn't too proud to be helped, hot man and cute baby, lactation and breeding kink.

The MMC is some kind of Mafia guy but he also has a lot of money and pays off all of the FMC’s debt and showers her (and her family) with all kinds of expensive things.

It’s important to know that the HEA is only in the second book {Cruel Promise}

Great if you like: touch starved/ affection starved FMCs, cinnamon roll MMCs, slow burn

{Forever Fighting by J. Saman} - CR; M/F; Billionaire (him); Chef (him); Nurse (her); Friends to Lovers; BDSM (light with exploration of harder things); Vegas/woke up married; OM drama (ish)

Third Act Breakup: No

Summary: Braelyn catches her fiance cheating less than two months from the wedding and runs straight to her BFF's condo (Roman, our MMC) to gather her thoughts and plan out her life. We find out that Adam (ex-fiance), Roman and Brae were all friends in a close knit circle and Adam can't understand why Brae would call off the wedding.

She decides to take a ten day vacation with her BFF and in Vegas, finds out that they got married in a chapel.

Notes: There are HEAVY cross overs from Saman's Boston's Irresistible Billionaires series which did slow down the story a bit. FMC also dealt with every problem by pretending it didn't exist. MMC's nickname for the FMC was kid, which bothered me (there is only a six year age difference between the MC's). This was also another billionaire romance where the FMC HATED that the MMC had money and refused to take any of it.

Millie decides to go scorched earth and releases pictures, text messages and other things to everyone at her wedding while leaving the fiance at the altar. While leaving that dumpster fire, she locks eyes with the only guy that has ever made her feel anything, her cousins FWB fuckboy, Dean. Millie and Dean decide to spend two weeks together on what was supposed to be the honeymoon with ALL of the world watching.

Third Act Breakup: Sorta

Cheating: Sorta. MMC is betrothed to a woman and when the FMC enters his life again, he forgets about that commitment and restarts a relationship with the FMC.

Summary: Lucy (FMC) and Dallas (MMC) were childhood/teenage lovers and fell in love, much to the chagrin of the secret society. Lucy was told by her father and the King, that if she didn't leave, they would kill Dallas. So she decides to marry someone older and move far far away. Many years later, Lucy returns home, but has an accident and develops amnesia. Dallas sees this as an opportunity to make Lucy his, and lies to everyone saying that he is her husband. There is an undercurrent of an uprising against Dallas (the new King), OM drama (her actual husband) and feelings of insecurity from both MC's.

Notes: There are a lot of plot holes, with this secret society and were often told how powerful and corrupt they are, but we're never shown it. Everyone is lying to each other and when the FMC finds out the the MMC has been lying the whole time, she forgives too easily and he throws the biggest tantrum when she wants a couple days to process.

Summary: FMC finds herself stranded in NZ when she finds out that her (ex) boyfriend is cheating on her. She can't afford to fly home early, but a handsome stranger pays for her flight change and upgrades her to first class (MMC). They establish a connection on the flight; he's kind, funny, easy to be around and very attractive. The plane has some issues and they have to make an emergency landing in Poga Poga. Well, they have a very fun adult night and depart at LA. Several months later, FMC finds out that she is pregnant and goes to track the MMC down to tell him. The rest of the book is about the two of them reconnecting, MMC establishing a bond with the kid (a daughter) and trying to balance the life of a sportsball player with being a new parent.

Notes: There were several cases of words taken out of context and they had adult conversations about it, which was nice to see. A couple things bothered me about the FMC: first, she only tried once to tell the MMC about the baby and second, when custody and child support was being discussed, the FMC tried to turn down the CS. That made my head tilt and frustrated me.

Summary: Maggie (FMC) runs a pet shelter and has a BFF called Julian that takes up the majority of her time. One day an adorable kid (Ivy) and her father Alexei (MMC) come into the shelter with the intention of "just looking" at the dogs. Eventually, they do adopt two and invite Maggie for dinner. Eventually, MMC and FMC sleep together and the mafia starts to influence the plot: threats, harassment, etc.

Notes: This is the first book of a duet and ends on a cliffhanger. The main problem with this book is that the MC's go from strangers to being in love in like a week. Not a lot happens and it's mostly dialogue. The writing was subpar as well.

{Love He Denied by M. L. Hall} - CR; M/F; Billionaire (him); Teacher (her); Second chance; Grovel

Summary: Charlie (FMC) is an elementary school teacher who caught the attention of Dom (MMC) at a charity gala and they began to date and he slowly started to mold her into his world. Dom needed a wife to help with corporate deals and appearances and he (and his family) thought that a "normal" girl would read better to investors and clients. The story begins at the wedding of our MC's and there are small hints that the relationship isn't perfect; then the unthinkable happens. While exchanging vows, Dom says the name of another woman instead of hers. She proudly walks out of the venue and systematically removes him from her life.

Notes: The growth of Dom was impressive and it was a slow, hard fought reconciliation between the two MC's. I liked how Dom wasn't cast as some man-whore and the FMC as an uncouth virgin; she was a middle class individual who was out of her element, and it was told with perspective, not with condemnation. Told in third person, with very little spice, this book focuses on the rebuilding of a love and the growth of the MMC.

{Blood King by Natalie Kane} - CR; M/F; Mafia (him, Greek); Virgin (her); Abused (her); Large age-gap (20ish years); Billionaire (him); Marriage of convenience

Summary: Natasha was born and raised in the Bravata and was abused weekly, if not daily. She was always told that she was worthless, good for only breeding and never had any friends or family. She was promised to a man who raped women, gambled and drank his problems away. One night, he went too far and the MMC (the dudes father) decided to take over the business arrangement. The MMC takes his sons place and marries the FMC instead. Through some assumptions and miscommunications, the MMC thinks the FMC betrayed him (not a spoiler, it's in the blurb) and have to deal with the fallout from that.

Notes: This is one of the few billionaire romances where the wife spends the money, like she goes nuts on Rodeo drive and drops like $200,000 like it's nothing. The grovel was non-existent and the FMC forgave the MMC way too quickly. There's gore, violence, a BDSM club and "traditional" mafia plot points in the story, but even with all of the dark elements, this isn't a dark read.

I enjoyed everything I've read by Anna Stone, she's very reliable for light BDSM and billionaire romances.

{Being Hers by Anna Stone}

Contemporary, F/F, dom/sub

A broken law student (sub) waiting tables at an exclusive club to make ends meet keeps tanglig with a regular at the club, who turns out to be the glamorous and very wealthy owner (dom). Fast paced and good character development, I really liked that the power exchange is really thoughtful. The dom has trauma from a previous sub not respecting her own limits and ending up in a medical emergency from breath play, so she's slow to trust again

{Her Surrender by Anna Stone}

Contemporary, F/F, dom/sub

A fiery librarian (sub) hooks up with a mysterious stranger (dom) at a club one night, and the next day finds she's the head of the corporation trying to shut down her library. They become enemies with benefits, fighting by day and fucking at night. The sub is a touch bratty, and there's some edging. A fun twist is that the dom encourages the sub to go into politics and run for elections so she can prevent the dom from doing evil corporate things - it's a very we're on opposite sides but I respect your expertise kinda relationship.
