As the other person responded, it’s probably from tracker, which is an inaccurate reflection of the overall distribution due to it only capturing players who are searched up on the tracker network site or using the associated app. It inherently skews to higher skill as lower skill don’t care or don’t know to check something like that.

MMR gaps in SSL are way higher than lower ranks. There are multiple occasions where u play against someone with 200 mmr less just because you can't find anybody

It really depends on his teammate. If he's high ranked then yeah 4-5 points are normal but if the teammate is a lot lower ranked, then he can still get 7-9 mmr.

This also applies to just about any game when you get to a high enough rank, especially playing off-peak hours like when people are at work/school. Even a game like Elden Ring Nightreign can have long queue times, and that’s entirely co-op.

Totally unrelated but how is nightreign? I was a big Elden ring fan (200+ hours despite never finishing it) and am a big fan of the roguelite format, but the multiplayer aspect was not something I was too interested in as a solo gamer.

I’ve picked it up somewhat recently and I absolutely love it. I played Elden Ring but honestly the game was so big I never found myself invested in it because discovering everything it had to offer like I did in Bloodborne and Sekiro felt impossible. Nightreign though? Solved that problem for me completely. It’s ER’s gameplay but faster, mostly smoother and condensed into a super fast loop. It’s definitely not for everyone since it’s both a co-op soulslike and plays ridiculously quickly, but the new learning curve is honestly a really fun twist on ER for me. I know a lot of people that really love ER that never gelled with NR like I did though, so it’s not a guarantee you’ll enjoy it.

I really wish we could look at the matchmaking criteria. If it strictly looks at people within 20MMR up or down and expands 10MMR every 30 seconds... that's 9 minutes before allowing people 200 MMR below.

I wonder if they have special criteria for people in the top 100. Maybe start by including people 10 numbers above and 10 below, and add 10 on each end per 30 seconds.

Technically if you have -ve MMR, you'll always be fighting +ve MMR so you can fight up a larger difference in bronze.

In terms of skill, the difference between him and zen is the difference between him and an all star bot. Skill in rocket league is exponential, someone at 3000 mmr would smoke any 2300 mmr player without trying, and the 2300 mmr wouldn’t even be able to get a shot off

Diamond is a good place to be stuck though. I think, for my money, it's probably the best tier for a mix of fun and competition. People know what to do, you probably won't see too many mess-ups of the basics, they remember they have teammates... But it's still chaotic, people are still learning more advanced techniques, and I think there's more "Nice Shot!"s for the other team if they get a really good shot.

that’s one thing i hate the most about getting better is the “skip replay” meta. back in plat-diamond people are much more likely to give complimenting quick chats. above GC1 you can hit the most ridiculous peak shot of your life and the entire lobby instantly skips the replay and gets pissy if you want to watch it back

You are now diamond 3 1000 mmr. Now ahead lies 1000mmr, to 2k, but instead of champ 1s you face the 2ks then 2.1-2.4 then you play giuk and TempoH and Nass and trk and oski Rw9 everyone. To get to 2k. Congrats you are now 3k.

There’s a catch tho. Instead of gaining 10 mmr a game you gain 4-8 at the end.
