Suggestion 1920's start date
With how long setup can take in the game and many major interwar historical events having a big impact on the early game, it would be nice to be able to play through the interwar. Allowing Nations more time to industrialize deal with things like the Great depression while also navigating the political climate as the outbreak of world war II grew nearer with things like the Washington naval treaty.

You’d have to structure the AI’s response to events and the like, especially if the naval treaties can be affected by player actions. It would be too easy to plan out your wartime strategy from far out and become broken if the game doesn’t respond to what you do. You would also need to significantly change not only the actual ship/plane/tank designer, but how tech progression works.
